Callais, 79, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Galliano, died at 6:30 p.m. May 20, 2005. Visitation will be 4 to 10 p.m. today and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano, with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cut Off. He is survived by his wife, Clothilde P. Callais; sons, Daniel, Raymond Sr. and David Callais; brothers, Clivington and Clinton Callais; sisters, Julia C. Vegas and Barbara C. Trahan; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson Xavier Sr. and Viola E. Hingle Callais; brothers, Anderson Jr., Theophile and Lindy Callais; sisters, Trina C. Boudreaux and Earlia C. Guidry. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Falgout Funeral Home of Galliano is in charge of arrangements.
