Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kennedy Funeral Home in Raceland and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Raceland. The religious service will be held at 11 a.m Saturday at the Church. Burial will be in the Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery in Raceland. She is survived by her husband, Walter Thomas of Raceland; sons and daughters- in-law, Garland and Veronica Thomas of Indian Head, Md., and Robert and Cassandra Smith of Dallas; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Audrey Thomas of Harvey, and Elvis and Melissia Thomas of Breaux Bridge; daughters, Zelda Price and Tekieta Thomas, both of Raceland; stepdaughters, Virginia Thomas of Dallas, and Dorothy and husband Donald Abraham of Houston; goddaughter, Lasheka Brown of Houma; Foster daughter, Meosha Criswell of Lafayette; brothers, Philip Smith of Kenner, and Monroe Smith of New Orleans; sisters and brothers- in-law, Rosa Nell Smith of Lockport, Ola Brown, Audrey and Lawrence Jones, and Lenora and Melvin Smith of Raceland; Viola Rushing and Barbara and Nolan Alexander of Houston; and 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Leola Smith; and brother, Leroy Smith. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
