Shirley Mathieu					[Photo]

Shirley Lee Mathieu, 67, a native of New Orleans and resident of Raceland, died 
May 8, 2005.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Morning Star Baptist Church in 
Raceland. A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, 
with burial at the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell Mathieu of Raceland; daughters, Denise 
Washington, Bernadette Perio and husband Joseph Perio III, and Michelle Mathieu 
all of Raceland, and Deanna Polly and Darrelyn Mathieu of Tampa Bay, Florida; 
sons, Melvin Washington of New Orleans, Ronald Washington of Thibodaux, Darryl 
Washington and Darrel Brown Mathieu of Raceland; brothers, Horace Lee of Baton 
Rouge, and Morris Lee, and Harold Lee of New Orleans; 22 grandchildren; and 17 
great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Gracie Lee; sons, Darren 
Mathieu, and Donald Lee Washington; daughter, Carroll Washington; grandson, Brad 
Shelby, and great granddaughter, Leonjanae Poindexter.

She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church and served on Usher Board No. 1. 
Her hobbies included sewing and listening to Gospel Music.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
