Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at First Baptist Church of Houma. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Fields Callegan of Houma; his former wife, Ouida Haydel Callegan of Houma; three sons, Wesley Callegan of Centerville, Sterling G. Callegan Jr. of Houma and Tyler Callegan and wife, Christine, of Mathews; six daughters, Julie C. Porche and husband, Terry, Leslie C. Gautreaux and husband, Jerry, Sally C. Breaux and husband, Mark, Lisa Callegan, Trina C. LeCompte and husand, Jeffery, and Stacy Callegan of Houma; one stepson, Tony Avet of Chauvin; one stepdaughter, Cindy Avet of Harahan; four brothers, Eugene J. Callegan of Slidell, Percy P. "Butch" Callegan Jr. of Birmingham, Alab., LeRay "Pete" Callegan of DeRidder and Harvey Callegan of Baton Rouge; one sister, Hazel "Sister" Roussel of Hester; 17 grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Paul Callegan and Hazel Alleman Callegan; one grandson, Brandon M. Callegan; and one brother, L.J. Callegan. He was a retired technician with United Gas Pipeline and owner of Sterling's Exxon Service Station. He was a member of the American Legion, Bayou State Gasoline Retailers Association and was executive director for 10 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Houma Building Fund. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Houma.
