Vernice Ayo						[Photo]

Vernice LeCompte Ayo, 92, a native of Lafourche Parish and resident of Raceland, died May 27, 2005.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Hilary of 
Poitiers Catholic Church in Mathews, with burial at Holy Savior Cemetery in 
Lockport.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel J. Ayo Sr.; daughters, Verna Mae A. Babin, 
Mary Jane A. Parks and Pamela A. Porche; brothers, Malvin LeCompte and Roland 
LeCompte; sisters, Eula L. Cancienne, Lillian L. Davis and Helen L. Dufour; 22 
grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. "Joe" Ayo; parents, Willie 
and Evelyn Chauvin LeCompte; daughter, Doris A. Knight; brothers, Albert, Duffy 
and Herman LeCompte; sisters, Della L. Robichaux and Elma L. Robichaux; and 
three grandchildren.

She was a parishioner of St. Hilary Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic 
Daughters.

Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
