She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was also a member of St. Mary Parish AARP and the Golden Age 49ers. Irene will always be remembered as a kind and loving lady that loved life and lived it to the fullest. She has a wonderful personality and was a joy to be around. She has a great sense of humor and was always a good sport when involved in a practical joke. Irene loved ceramics, making hand-made Christmas ornaments, fishing and going to the casino. Her hand-made Christmas ornaments and ceramics will be treasured by family members forever. When it came to her gardening, one would definitely say that she had a "green thumb." Irene was extremely proud of the fact that she owned her own boat and motor and of the fact that she could still row a skiff. When it came to cooking, Irene was second to none. She was famous for her hot tamales, crawfish bisque, stuffed crabs and rabbit spaghetti. She will always be remembered for her crab picking ability for everyone knew that if they sat by Irene she would hand them a prepared crab to be easily picked clean. Irene lived her life in a way that will always make her children proud. She was a wonderful provider and did her best to make sure that her family was well taken care of. Irene showed an incredible amount of strength and courage in raising her three daughters after tragically losing her husband and son in 1957. Her strength and zest for life will forever live on in her family and those that were honored to call her "friend." She was a beloved mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and each life that she touched in her own special way. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose LaCoste. She is also survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Bill Trosclair of Thibodaux, Bonnie Gilmore and Ferris Gilmore Sr. and Sheila and Benny Henry of Morgan City; sister Shirley Boudreaux of Morgan City; brother Howard LaCoste of Erath; grandchildren Tara Trosclair of Charlotte, N. Larry Daigle, 61, of Houma was walking on La. 182 somewhere between Hollywood and Coteau roads about midnight Wednesday when Borge Martin Jr. of Marrero drove past heading east, said State Police Troop C spokesman Rodney Hyatt. Daigle, who was walking on the highway's edge, was hit by Martin's side-view mirror. Martin changed directions and went back to check on Daigle, who was shaking his fists and appeared ready to fight, Hyatt said. Daigle drove to a nearby store and called police for help. When police went in search of Daigle, they discovered him dead in the middle of La. 182. Hyatt said another vehicle apparently hit and killed Daigle after Martin went for help and, due to the man's injuries and evidence recovered, investigators say it's likely the second motorist didn't even realize that he had hit someone. ======================================================================= March 24. 2006 11:10AM Olevia August Picture ========== A photo is available for this file.
