When asked why he came back to Raceland, he commented that he grew up with th is community and thought of it simply as home. He found time to serve as president of the Thibodaux Rotary Club and was a co- founder of La Vie Lafourchaise. He served on the governing board of the State Medical Society and Louisiana Medical Mutual Insurance Co. and was chairman of the Department of Aviation at Nicholls State University. Instrumental in many of the Knights of Columbus functions and served as co-chairman of the Kirchenfest and the Italian Festival. She served on the Maryville Village Planning Commission for 10 years and has co-chaired the Homecoming Funnel Cake stand for 17 years. She was an active member of Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Maryville for 29 years and was an avid traveler, reader, homemaker and horticulturist. After graduating from LSU School of Medicine in 1965 he completed his residency in general surgery at Tulane School of Medicine. In 1971, after serving as a major in the U.S. Air Force at Keesler Air Base in Biloxi, Miss., where he taught thoracic and vascular surgery Dr. Phil returned to Raceland to practice medicine. When asked why he came back to Raceland, he commented that he grew up with this community and thought of it simply as home. He found time to serve as president of the Thibodaux Rotary Club and was a co- founder of La Vie Lafourchaise. He served on the governing board of the State Medical Society and Louisiana Medical Mutual Insurance Co. and was chairman of the Department of Aviation at Nicholls State University.
