He was a graduate of Thibodaux College and Spencer Business College. He was general manager of Halter Marine in Lockport and executive vice-president and president of Halter Marine in New Orleans. He retired from the shipbuilding industry as owner of Champion Shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Picayune. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to E.D. White Cat holic High School. Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Charles Borromero Cemetery in Lafourche Parish. He is survived by his father, William "Jack" Washam Sr. of Houma; one son, William "Bill" Jack Washam III of Houma; one brother, John Earl Washam of Houma; one sister, Jackie Washam of Covington; and one granddaughter, Alysse Washam of Houma. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Gaudet Washam. He was a machinist with Jack's Auto Parts and Machine Shop and a member of First Baptist Church.
