Funeral services were held today at Grace Lutheran Church on Valhi Boulevard. He is survived by Carol E. Pellegrin; four children, Dawn Lott and husband, Jeff, of Katy, Texas, Libby Fakier and husband, Kenneth, of Atlanta, Jonathan Pellegrin of Houma and Christen Clark and husband, Jeremy, of Dallas; four grandchildren, Allison and Nicholas Lott and Emma Claire and Brighton Fakier; and one brother, Dr. Roland Pellegrin of State College, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Octave Joseph and Claire Lajaunie Pellegrin; one brother, Dr. Lionel Pellegrin; one sister, Marion Exnicious; and two grandchildren, Cameron and Elliott Fakier. He graduated from Terrebonne High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1965. He obtained his bachelor of science degree in accounting from Nicholls State University and owned Pellegrin Construction Co. in Schriever for more than 20 years. He gave freely of his time and assets to his church and the local community. He served as president of the Nicholls State University Alumni Association and was awarded the James Lynn Powell Award for outstanding Alumnus in 1986. He served on the board of elementary and secondary education from 1980 to 1988 and served as its president from 1981 to 1983. He was a member of the board of directors for the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts from 1982 to 1983. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and contributed much of his time to serving on various boards and committees. He was a member of Grace Lutheran's Board of Elders and president of the Gulf District of the Lutheran Laymen's League. His children thank him for teaching them about love, patience and kindness and for passing on his love of reading, thirst for knowledge and the art of storytelling. She met her husband during World War II at Camp Wheeler in Georgia, and they were married in 1942 at Fort Dix, N.J. After the war they resided in Thibodaux where her husband practiced dentistry and they raised a son, David. She authored the slogan for Thibodaux, "Where Yesterday Meets Tomorrow" and contributed the recipe for "Crawfish Benny" to the Louisiana Legacy Cookbook. She also was part of a successful movement to prevent the extension of East Seventh Street through Peltier Park in Thibodaux.
