When she was not able to attend anymore she enjoyed watching the games on TV and every morning she enjoyed drinking her coffee and reading the sports section in the newspaper. Upon his retirement, he immediately returned to law enforcement at the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office as first assistant. He was under the supervision of the late Charleston P. Rozands, where he diligently continued to serve his community. He was a member of the Christopher Matherne Fraternal Order of Police Lodge and was extensively involved in civic organizations. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Ann Guedry; his parents, Edward and Julia Guedry; one sister, Alice Dugas; and one brother, Albert Guedry. He was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Paincourtville. He was the fourth child of Edward J. Guedry and Julia Marquette. He married Shirley Mae Guillot of Paincourtville on May 17, 1944. Together they had six children, Keith, Karen, Leonard Jr. (Len), Paul, Neil and Robin (deceased). He was a resident of Napoleonville since 1924 and graduated from Napoleonville High School. He furthered his education at Louisiana State University and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in commerce and history in 1943. He was drafted in to the U.S. Army in 1943. He was discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1946 and remained in the Army Reserves and served as a reserve officer until 1950. After his discharge, he formed Leonard Guedry Insurance Agency and later formed Leonard Guedry Real Estate Agency, which he operated until retirement in 1986. Leonard was active in local community affairs and belonged to many local organizations. He served as president of the Napoleonville Lions Club, Grand Knight and District Deputy of the Knights of Columbus, Treasurer of the Napoleonville Volunteer Fire Department and a board member of Bayouside Golf Club. He was a member of the Louisiana State University Alumni Association and the American Legion. He served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Louisiana Association of Insurance Agents for 10 years.
