She is survived by her mother, Phyllis Bloch; one sister, Ann Robichaux of Perrysburg, Ohio; two brothers, Ray and Dan Bloch of Alexandria; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Bolton High School and received her bachelor of arts degree in education at Northwestern State University and her master's degree from the University of New Orleans. She was a dedicated and exacting teacher of English in the St. Charles Parish School for more than 33 years. Her bright spirit will be greatly missed by her family and host of friends. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Friday at First Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. She is survived by her husband and lifelong companion of 48 years, Clarence Smith Jr.; three sons, Carey Paul, Craig Patrick and wife, Anessa, and Chad Phillip and wife, Gina; three grandsons, Cullen A., Donavan P. and Hayden P. Smith; one step-grandson, Justin Lirette; her loving mother, Margaret A. Robinett; and many cherished relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Ardis R. Robinett, retired from Humble Oil, Exxon Oil and numerous other oilfield related companies, after retirement, he worked as an oilfield consultant. Virginia is a graduate of the class of 1958 at Terrebonne High School and attended Francis T. Nicholls College for two years. During her life she was employed by Exxon in Morgan City, served as secretary at First Baptist Church during three Pastoral tenures, worked at Sears for five years then went into the oilfield services working at Teledyne Merle Services, Otis Engineering and Halliburton Services. Upon retiring from oilfield service she continued to work for Tillery Enterprises Inc. Bookkeeping Services. Her personal interests were church services, church ministries and support groups. She was one of the original founders of Shoulders to Lean On Inc., a support group for families and friends of prisoners. She was the initial leader in having Bible studies for children in the Terrebonne Juvenile Justice Complex.
