He started his working life in the U.S. Navy as a Frog Man, now know as a Navy Seal, which few would debate is the toughest and beyond any stretch of the imagination the most grueling and mentally challenging training that one could go through, only the best survive. He was among the few men that were called Navy Seals. After serving his country, he worked for Jay Ray McDermott as a commercial diver. After 25 years he retired and became a diving consultant. Jim worked in the natural gas industry for 28 years, beginning his career as a maintenance worker at the Tennessee Gas Pipeline compressor station in Cleveland in 1980 and ending it in as operations manager for the Gulf Coast Division of the El Paso Corporation in Houma in 2008. In addition to enjoying his work and family, Jim loved serving the Lord. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in 1974, and lived the rest of his life as a dedicated and uncompromising Christian. In the final days before his death, Jim wanted the message of his life to be "Live for God." He said in all things, good and bad, the most rewarding life is a life lived for the Lord.
