Raymond Peter Berger

Raymond Peter Berger, 82, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday 
February 1, at 12:35 a.m.

He is survived by his sons, Allan Steve Berger of Houma, and Severn Paul Berger 
and wife Georgana D. Berger of Houma; daughter, Christie Renee Berger Phillips 
and husband Thomas J. Phillips Jr. of Alexandria, La.; brothers, Warren Berger 
and wife Marilyn of Houma, and Lawrence Berger and wife Phoebe of Alabama; 
sisters, Florence B. Barnes and husband Grover of Alabama, and Betty Chaisson 
and Joe Chaisson of Houma; grandchildren, Joshua A. Berger of Pineville, and 
Nicole Renee Phillips and Carly Jo Phillips of Alexandria; step-grandchildren, 
Aisha Guidry and spouse (Boogie) of Raceland, La., and Justin Billiot and Ben 
Billiot of Houma; and step-great-grandchild, Kanin Guidry of Raceland.

He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Sheffield Berger; parents, Peter 
Berger and Alice Bourg Berger; son, Raymond "Snookums" P. Berger Jr.; and 
brother, Severn Berger.

He was a retired Purchasing agent with Louisiana Land and Exploration Company 
where he worked for 40 years. He was a Sergeant in the Army during World War 
II, was with Company B 519th Military Police Battalion and served in the 
Philippines, Japan and overseas. He was enlisted on December 01, 1944 and was 
discharged on October 02, 1949. He was a devoted husband for 47 years, very 
loving and faithful and kind father and a joy to everyone who knew him. He was 
active in the church and helped start many ministries throughout his years, He 
was ordained as a deacon at Christ Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of 
Houma. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and 
gardening.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in the memory of Mr. Raymond Peter 
Berger to the American Cancer Society, First United Methodist Church or First 
Baptist Church of Houma.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, February 2, at Chauvin Funeral Home 
and 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, at First United Methodist Church 
with a memorial service to follow. Interment will be at Garden of Memories.

George Allen Boquet, infant, a native and resident of Houma, La., died 
Wednesday, January 28, at 10:35 p.m.

He is survived by his parents, Jules Jr. and Jodie Babin Boquet; paternal

Harold and Phyllis Babin.

Barbara Ann Brien

Barbara Ann Brien, 66, a native of Houma, La., and a resident of Bayou Blue, 
La., died Saturday, January 31.

She is survived her sisters, Phyllis B. Eschete and husband John, Mary B. 
Weatherhead and Annette L. Brien; nieces, Aimee E. Eschete and Caitlin E. 
Weatherhead; and nephews, John A. Eschete II and Trevor A. Weatherhead.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivy J. Brien and Iris Savoie Brien.

She was an active parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church and was a devoted 
member of her rosary prayer group. She was a longtime art enthusiast and was a 
warm, humble servant of Christ.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, at Samart Funeral Home 
of Houma and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, at St. Louis Catholic 
Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Linda Rogers Fontenot, 49, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Sunday, 
February 1, at 8:15 a.m.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Fontenot; parents, Carrol Rogers Sr. and 
Mary Detillier Rogers; son, Kyle Dominique wife Katherine; daughters, Melissa 
Boudreaux and husband Joshua, and Brittany Dominique and fiance Gerard 
Hohensee; step-daughters, Erika Fontenot, and Stacy Monshor and husband Andy; 
brothers, Carrol Jr., Craig and Jerry Rogers; sister, Cathy Robichaux; 2 
grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Frederick "Freddy" Fuchs

Frederick "Freddy" Fuchs, 62, a native and long time resident of Houma, La., 
died Friday, January 30, at 1 p.m.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brenda Ann Bourg Fuchs of Houma; son, 
Henry "Hank" Fuchs of Houma; daughter, Marie Nolian Fuchs Langley and husband 
Ryan of Houma; brothers, Eric Paul Fuchs and Edmund Gustav Fuchs, Jr.; sisters, 
Martha Fuchs Valure, Emilie Ann Fuchs and Mary Margaret Fuchs Price; and 
grandchildren, Alex Fuchs, Tyler Dean Langley and Karleigh Jeanne Marie 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund Gustav Fuchs Sr. and Jeanne 
Blanchard Fuchs.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 3700, and the United 
Veterans League. He was a Ham radio operator, a Vietnam Veteran and belonged to 
the Navy Sea Bees. He was a retired diesel mechanic and a member of the Boy 
Scouts of America, Eagle Scout Troop 311, Vigil Honor and Order of Arrow. He 
was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday February 5, at Maria 
Immacolata Catholic Church with a memorial service to follow. Burial will be at 
St. Anthony Bayou Black Cemetery

Ralph P. Knight

Ralph P. Knight, 70, a native and resident of Mathews, La., died Saturday, 
January 31, at 9:42 a.m.

He is survived by his sons, Ricky Paul Knight and Greg Edward Knight and wife 
Jackie; daughter, Patty Comeaux and husband Oneil; brothers, Guy Knight and 
wife Della, and Leroy Knight and wife Bella; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Knight; and parents, Junior and 
Marie Adams Knight.

He was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church. He 
was past Assistant Chief for the Lockport Volunteer Fire Department. He worked 
for Knight's Exxon in Raceland, La., for the past 35 years. He enjoyed fishing 
and going to the casino.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, at St. Hilary of 
Poitiers Catholic Church with mass to follow. Burial will be at the church 
cemetery.

Chad "T-Chad" M. Landry, 35, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, La., died 
Friday, January 30, at 12:05 a.m.

He is survived by his wife Tamar Alario Landry; sister, Joi Miranne; brothers, 
Tony Landry and Mark Landry; godchildren, Lea Landry and Jesse Landry; nieces, 
Cassidy Miranne, Jessica Landry and Ruby Miranne; nephews Jesse Landry, Jesty 
Landry, Patrick Landry, Tony Landry Jr. and Wilson Miranne; and his best 
friends Cody Gisclair, Ben Conner and Ricky Barrios.

He was preceded in death by his mother Azema Landry; and niece, Lynette Landry.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Joseph "Emile" Matherne, 79, a native of Vacherie, La., and a resident of St. 
Bernard, La., died Sunday, February 1, at 4:15 a.m.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth R. Matherne; daughters, Shirley B. Matherne 
and Sharon M. Breaux; brothers, Arthur Matherne Jr. and Armand Matherne; 
sisters, Vernie Mae Torres and Wilmer Anne Louque; 11 grandchildren; and 18 
great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. Matherne Sr. and Ethy 
Granier Matherne; daughter, Shelia B. Burgess; and brother, Eldon A. Matherne.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Ed 
Brauner American Legion Post 307 and past Commander and Conductor of 40/8 
Voiture #108.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, at Falgout Funeral 
Home in Raceland, La. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral 
home with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Metairie, La.

Eddie P. Ordoyne, 52, a native of Gheens, La., and a resident of Cut Off, La., 
died Friday, January 30.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Dufrene Ordoyne; son, Eddie Nicholas Ordoyne 
and wife Tiffany Cheramie Ordoyne; daughter, Tabitha Ordoyne Basulito and 
husband Morgan; brothers, Alfred Ordoyne and Ivan Ordoyne; sisters, Peggy O. 
Bourgeois, Ann O. Rodrigue and Penny O. Morray; and grandchildren, Ticy

He loved family gatherings, boucheries, entertaining people, car racing and his 
job operating an excavator for Grand Isle Shipyard Trucking Division, 
Department 72.

Warren John Rodrigue, 83, a native of Franklin, La., and a resident of Bayou 
Black, La., died Thursday, January 29.

He is survived by his wife, Eula Savoie Rodrigue; sons Hayes Rodrigue and wife 
Helen of Scottsbluff, Ne., and Philip Rodrigue and wife Nancy of Lafayette, 
La.; daughter Mary Billiot and husband Jimmie of Gray, La.; brothers Ronald 
Rodrigue of Bayou Black, and Emmett Rodrigue and wife Doris of Bayou Black; 
grandchildren John Rodrigue and Kristy Davis and husband Joel; step-
grandchildren, Tessa Granger and husband Todd, Nick Nelson and wife Emily, 
Heidi Brown and husband Todd, and Jim Billiot; and step-great-grandchildren, 
Devin Brown and Seth Granger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Albert Rodrigue and Della Hebert 
Rodrigue.

He graduated from Terrebonne High School in 1942 and attended Washington State 
University and LSU. He served as a Corporal in the Army Air Corps during World 
War II. He was a member of the VFW. He was a carpenter.

He was buried at St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery.

Nora Trosclair Shaw

Nora Trosclair Shaw, 102, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., passed into 
God's Kingdom while at home surrounded by loved ones Saturday, January 31.

She is survived by her daughter, June Shaw and companion, Bob Breaux of 
Thibodaux; sons, Ronnie Shaw and wife Lise of Houma, La., and Billy Shaw and 
wife Delta of Thibodaux; brother, Louis Trosclair; sister, Marie Gaudet of 
Thibodaux; grandchildren, Al and Sharon Naquin of Baton Rouge, La., Dawn Naquin 
and Allison Fakier of Thibodaux, Debra and Mike Blanchard of Houma, Nolan and 
Becky Naquin of Thibodaux, Bonnie and Robbie Fink of Covington, La., Steve Shaw 
of Thibodaux, John Shaw of New Orleans, La., and Maria and Brandon Archer of 
Houma; great-grandchildren, Blair Naquin, Dylan and Ryan Blanchard, Tiffany 
Bowen, Parker, Brooke, Caroline and Claire Naquin, John Shaw Jr., Josh, Tyler 
and Mia Archer, Corey, Rachel and Stephen Shaw and Rebecca and Maggie Fink; and

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Shaw; parents, Gracien and Marie 
Clement Trosclair; sisters, Velma Lagarde and Anna Mae Boutte; brother, William 
Trosclair Sr.; and grandson, Scott Naquin.

Nora was born June 27, 1906, on Greenwood Plantation and lived in the St. John 
Community. She attended Louisiana Normal School in Natchitoches, La., now 
Northwestern University, and taught at Brule-Guillot and L.T. Schools. She 
later worked for the Department of Public Welfare as a welfare visitor to 
hundreds of families throughout Lafourche Parish, La.

She loved to eat and cook for her large extended family and friends. She was an 
active member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Pokeno Club, 
Lafourche Homemakers and Ladies Altar Society, often serving as an officer and 
working at fair booths. She received homemaker parish and state awards for 
Family of the Year. She liked listening to KTIB, going to casinos and watching 
HTV. In recent years, she enjoyed bingo at the Thibodaux Senior Citizen's 
Center and church and attending Chamber of Commerce events. L.T. reunions were 
especially important.

Nora loved Mardi Gras and proudly became first queen of Thibodaux's Senior 
Carnival Ball. In honor of her 95th birthday, Mayor Charles Caillouet presented 
her with keys to the city and proclaimed Nora Trosclair Shaw Day on June 27 in 
Thibodaux. She was often interviewed and filmed by HTV. Presidents and Willard 
Scott wished her happy birthday.

A woman of strong faith, she loved to be with friends and family and was 
happily surprised by limo rides for many of her birthdays. She loved to dance, 
especially the Freeze, Macarena and Chicken Dance.

From the ages of 100 to 102, she attended line dance classes with her daughter. 
A local article about her line dancing led to Nora being invited to appear on 
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Because of her poor vision, she declined, but 
later invited Jay to Thibodaux. No word has arrived yet.

Her positive attitude, adventurous spirit and energy amazed everyone. People 
often said she was their hero.

Nora's family would like to thank Thibodaux Regional Hospital and Bayou Region 
Hospice for the excellent care they all gave her after a mild heart attack led 
to her decline and to the medical team for its respite care.

Nora Shaw had a large family and countless friends and loved to be with every 
one of them. She was a special gift, a one-of-a-kind lady who will be sorely 
missed by many.

Donations to your favorite charity are preferred.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday, February 3, at St. Genevieve 
Catholic Church, with burial in St. John Cemetery.

sister, Agnes "Lou Lou" Toups Sonnier.

She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off and a member 
of the Catholic Daughters and Ladies Altar Society. She was also a member of 
the Grand Isle Senior Citizens, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Krewe of 
Nereids. Prior to her retirement, she was the owner of Bruce Furniture in Cut 
Off and Bruce Apartments in Grand Isle. Here she enjoyed meeting people and 
became a friend to everyone she met through her businesses. She also loved 
visiting with family and friends and had a passion for Mardi Gras. She loved a 
good time shared with Krewe members, family and friends.

She was buried at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cut Off.

Dale Patrick Carlos, 70, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 10:45 
a.m. Wednesday, February 4.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Joseph Carlos and Dorothy Ford 
Carlos; and brother, Glynn Carlos.

He was retired from the State of Louisiana. He was a parishioner of Maria 
Immacolata Catholic Church.

Valerie Carter, 51, a native of Memphis, Tn., and a resident of Houma, La., 
died Saturday, January 3.

She is survived by her mother, Mildred Maxwell; brother, Dennis Maxwell of

She was a homemaker and was Baptist.

Frank "Joe" Fryou Jr., 62, of Amelia, La., died Sunday, February 1.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Julie Dupre Fryou of Amelia; his 
mother, Louise Fryou of Amelia; sons, Rodney Fryou and wife Sheryl of Texas, 
and Billy Tharp and fiancˇ Christen of Chauvin, La.; daughters, Patty Blair and 
husband Chris of Oklahoma, Joey Simons and husband Tracy of Georgia, and 
Kimberly Bailey and husband Teddy of Amelia; brothers, LeRoy Breaux Jr. of 
Amelia and Jeffery Paul Fryou of Wyoming; sisters, Dianne Hotard of Amelia and

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Fryou Sr.; and grandparents, 
Adrian and Hazel Champagne and John and Marie Fryou.

He was employed by Schlumberger for 40 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending 
time with his family. He loved country music, westerns, working crossword 
puzzles and putting together jig saw puzzles.

He was buried at St. Andrew's Cemetery.

Elaine A. Grabert, 61, a lifelong resident of Houma, La., died following a 
lengthy battle with cancer Wednesday, February 4.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Lionel J. Grabert; daughter, Robyn 
M. Grabert and fiancˇ Troy F. Neil; brothers, Richard A. "Dickie" Arcement and 
Floyd F. "Buster" Arcement and wife Julie of Houma; sisters, Janice A. Hebert 
of Houma, Martha A. Longman and husband Ralph of Franklin, La., Mary A. 
Plaisance and husband David of Raceland, La., and Nancy A. Collins and husband 
Freeman of Houma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard P. and Eulah Walker Arcement; 
and brother-in-law, Kenneth Hebert.

She was a retired ophthalmic medical assistant. Since retirement, she enjoyed 
spending time with family and friends, participating in the Relay for Life and 
volunteering at the American Cancer Society.

"Pegeon" Guidry and wife Pat, and Cleveland "Lil P" Guidry and wife Dawn; 
brothers, Vincent Mahler, Alidore Mahler, Albert Mahler, Butley Mahler and 
Lester Mahler; sisters, Mabel Morvant, Gert Simoneaux, Henrietta Landry and 
Frances Ruelet; one grandchild; four step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Florestine Durocher Mahler; 
brothers, Norman Mahler, Claude Mahler and Henry Mahler Jr.; sister, Louise 
Constant; and one granddaughter.

She was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church where 
she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She 
enjoyed sewing, playing bingo and going to the casino. She was a homemaker and 
a fantastic wife and mother.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, February 6, at St. Mary's Nativity

She was Mother of the Church and was on the Deaconess Board. She was a member 
of Terrebonne Parish Women Day Association and was a Golden Social Aid Society 
member. She was a retired cook from Ardoyne School. She spent her life serving 
God, fellowshipping with people, cooking and caring for others. She was a 
lifelong member of Sunlight Baptist Church.

volunteer of the Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity.

including one who touched his heart, Jordan LeBlanc of Donaldsonville; eight 
great-great-grandchildren; and one step-granddaughter who never forgot him,

He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Beaulah B.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney Lea Brauninger and Grace

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Houma and was a member

accomplished artist, draftsman, decorator, amateur gemologist and gourmet cook. 
She was passionate about her family and a real lover of God's creatures. 
Furthermore, she was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother (to her 
four-legged, furry grandchildren), and friend. We love her and miss her 
greatly.

Philip E. Bouterie Jr., 72, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died 
Tuesday, February 17.

He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Barrios and husband Julius; and nephews,

Sergeant Scott Barrios and wife Erica of Oceanside, Ca.; great-nephew, Jude

University for two years. He then attended LSU where he earned a degree in 
English. In 1960, he graduated from LSU with a Masters degree in social work. 
He worked and lived in New Orleans for more than 40 years. He retired from the 
State of Louisiana in 1995. He moved back to Thibodaux after evacuating from 
Hurricane Katrina in September 2005.

He was a great lover of the arts.

He was an airplane mechanic in the Army Air Corps and a veteran of World War 
II. He was a tank builder in the oilfield, a carpenter, owner of E.A. Molaison 
Grocery and Molly's Place saloon on Bayou Dularge, La., and a bridge tender. He 
had a big heart and loved his family. He enjoyed gardening, reading the Times 
Picayune newspaper and watching the world news.

February 21, at 4 p.m.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen R. Falgout; son, Elmo J. Falgout 
Jr. and wife Betty; daughter, Tanya F. Saucier and husband Timmy; sister, Sadie 
F. Laris; grandchildren, Grant, Gregg and Garrett Falgout and Kyle and Kayla 
Saucier; and great-grandchildren, Shawnee, Randall, Lauren and Brooke Falgout.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Clodomir Falgout and Elvire 
Grabert Falgout; brothers, Nelson, Allence, Idie and Loney; and sisters, Sidna 
F. Hunter, Maude F. Pierpont, Lizzie F. Domangue and Josephine F. Aucoin.

He retired from the Louisiana State Police as a lieutenant with 28 years of 
service and went on to serve with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office as a 
major for 13 years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with 
his family.

Edna A. Martin, 86, a native and resident of Des Allemands, La., died 
Wednesday, February 25, at 10:25 a.m.

She is survived by her sons, Malcolm Martin Jr. and wife Barbara, and Phil 
Martin and wife Lana; daughter, Judy Beadle and husband John; 12 grandchildren; 
17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Martin Sr.; parents, Hamilton 
and Lucia Baudoin Arceneaux; daughter, Juanita Bergeron; brothers, Lawrence 
Arceneaux, Roy Arceneaux, Hamilton Arceneaux Jr. and Huger Arceneaux; and 
sisters, Marguerite Bergeron and Celina Cortez.

She was a member of Des Allemands Mennonite Church and enjoyed quilting.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, February 27, and 8 a.m. to 10:30 
a.m. Saturday, February 28, at Des Allemands Mennonite Church. A religious 
service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial at the church

daughters, Charlotte Thibodaux, Emily "Milly" Borne and Ann Thibodaux; sons-in-
law, Lester Thibodaux, Joseph Borne and Earl Thibodaux; five grandchildren; and

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Soignet Sr.; parents, Emily

She was a retired St. James Parish School Board Food Service employee.
