In his later retirement years, his whole time and devotion were to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. He will be sadly missed by his family and the many lives he touched; from the pulmonary rehab staff to the fourth floor nursing staff at TGMC and his coffee buddies at Annunziata Catholic Church. He had a masonry construction background, worked at Supreme Sugars, the Lafourche Parish School Board, the City of Thibodaux and was also a general construction contractor. He needed many jobs, sometimes two or three at a time, to support his large family. Louis was a member of the country's greatest generation, serving in the military in World War II and was a prisoner of war for nine months. He was in the 389 Bomb Group 8 AF and received several medals and distinguished awards. He was a lifetime honorary member of the V.F.W. Louis loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and especially camping with his family and friends. He enjoyed trawling and popierring for shrimp. He loved to eat and cook for his large family and friends at church. He also enjoyed playing cards with his buddies on Thursday evenings. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and many dear friends. He worked for the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood and the Preschool there as a senior security officer for 21 years. During these years he became a part of the church and many school families. He was planning to move back to Louisiana after his retirement to meet all his nieces and nephews. Everyone who met him, deeply loved him and grew fond of him. He will be truly missed by many family members, the children from the preschool, friends and co-workers. A memorial service has been planned for May 30th at the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood to honor his memory and dedication for keeping the children, families and church safe. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty Lee Stagni; his parents, Antoine and Lena Stagni; one brother, Roland Stagni; and two sisters, Ethel and Mildred Stagni. He was born in Thibodaux, La., graduated from Thibodaux High School and from USL in Lafayette, La. He married Betty Lee Beary in 1951 and soon embarked on a long career in the accounting field. He was a notary public, and a Certified Public Accountant, working until his retirement to care for Betty Lee in her battle with diabetes. He will always be remembered as kind, generous and with a great sense of humor. He was a devout Catholic and believer of our Lord Savior Christ Jesus.
