Janice Marie Babin, 65, a native of Houma, La., and a resident of Bourg, La., 
died Saturday, August 1, at 3:28 a.m.

She is survived by her mother, Alicia B. Babin; one niece, Wendi Lirette; two 
nephews, Jeff and Timmy Pflieger; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles

She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Joseph Babin Sr.; three sisters, 
Karin Babin, Kay Babin and Cheryl B. Pflieger; and one brother, Lester J. Babin 
Jr.

She was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations for masses or the charity of your 
choice.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, August 3, at St. Ann Catholic 
Church with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at St. Ann Catholic 
Church Cemetery.

July 30, at 10:35 p.m.

She is survived by one son, Andrew Bourgeois and wife Judy; one daughter, Lucy 
Himel and husband Andrew Jr.; one brother, Roland Thibodaux Sr.; one sister, 
Loretta Ponvelle; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Bourgeois; her parents, Edgar 
Thibodaux and Lucina Haydel Thibodaux; one brother, Robert Thibodaux Sr.; two 
nephews, Roland Thibodaux Jr. and Robert Thibodaux Jr.; and one great-great-
grandchild, Brooklynn Himel.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, August 3, at St. Lawrence 
Catholic Church in Chacahoula, La., with mass to follow. Burial will be at the 
church cemetery.

La., died Friday, July 31.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Thibodeaux Elkins of Houma; one daughter, Jo 
Lynn Gardner and husband Joe; one son, Tommy Elkins; three step-children, 
Kenneth Price II, Toby Price and Angelle Price; one brother, Richard Elkins; one 
sister, Elizabeth Crane; two grandchildren, Ben and Christy Gardner; three step-
grandchildren, Allison Price, Deon Smith and Donoven Smith; and numerous nieces, 
nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Henry Elkins and Bessie Chapman 
Elkins; one brother, Billy Elkins; and one sister, Becky Burnett.

He was retired from PesiCo Food Service Division. He loved camping as well as 
being in Cocodrie fishing with his friends and his brother. He assisted with 
community projects sponsored by the Bayou Civitan Club.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, August 3, and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. 
Tuesday, August 4, at Chauvin Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 
a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial in Waynesboro Cemetery in 
Waynesboro, Miss.

of Vacherie, and Ashley Marse of Vacherie; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan 
Ordoyne and Caroline Folse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. Marse Sr.; parents, Lawrence 
and Agnes Melancon; one sister, Norma Lousteau; and one brother, James Melancon.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, August 3, at Our Lady of Peace 
Catholic Church in Vacherie with mass to follow. Entombment will be at the

He was a member of Plymouth Rock Baptist Church.

Henry and husband Magnus, and Karen Crochet, all of Houma; one brother, Carroll 
Crochet of Houma; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Crochet and Eula Dupre Crochet; 
one brother, Gerald Crochet; and one sister, Gail Crochet.

He was a heavy equipment operator for IUOE. He was Catholic and a parishioner of 
Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma.

Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be

LeBouef; three sisters; Carmen Bonvillian, Elenor Trahan and Harriet Liner; one 
brother, Claude LeBouef; and eight grandchildren, Douglas Thomas, Joshua 
LeCompte, Katie LeCompte, Shawn Brunet, Heather Brunet, Robin Biggs, Brandon 
LeBouef and Brynn LeBouef.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Irby LeBouef; two sisters, 
Antoinette LeBlanc and Virginia DeHart; and one grandchild, Cameron LeBouef.

He was an Ordained Deacon in the Catholic Church since May 18, 1996. He was a 
parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a self-
employed building contractor.

wife Mickey, and Lonnie Lusco and wife Colette, both of Houma; two daughters, 
Charlotte Lusco Dupre and husband Wayne, and Dorothy (Dotsy) Lusco Ledet and 
husband David; one sister, Daisy Cotton of Deer Park, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 
Curt, Jacob, Julia and Alyssa Lusco, Erin Lusco LeBlanc, Robert Dupre, Elizabeth 
Dupre Vitrano, Alesia Ledet Blanchard, Nicole Ledet Juneau and Brandon Ledet; 
and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Reba Hoob Lusco; parents, Vincent 
Joseph and Daisy Guidry Lusco; and two grandchildren, John David Ledet and 
Jennifer Michelle Ledet.

He was an active charter member and past president of the Christopher Matherne 
Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #4. He was a retired Captain with the Houma 
Police Department and the former owner of AAA Body and Fender Works. He was a 
parishioner of Marie Immacolata Church.

The family would like to extend many thanks to Drs. Raul Dorla and Richard 
Haydel and their staff, and St. Joseph Hospice.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8, at Falgout Funeral

Father Vandebilt Assembly 2322, the Diocese Knight of Columbus Chairman for 
Veterans Affairs, a member of St. Gregory's Hospitality Usher Ministry, and a 
volunteer at Houma's Veterans Outpatient Clinic.

Doris Kosior

Doris Kosior, 89, a native of Lafayette, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died 
Thursday, August 6, at 12:20 p.m.

She is survived by two sons, Bernie Kosior and Ricky Kosior, both of Houma; one 
daughter, Mary K. Cherry and husband Charles A. Cherry of Houma; one daughter-
in-law, Jan M. Kosior of Pennsville, N.J.; one sister-in-law, Lillian B. Meaux 
of Lafayette, La.; two granddaughters, Dawn Kosior Armstrong and husband Douglas 
Armstrong, and Katherine A. Cherry; three grandsons, Sam Cherry, Mark Kosior and 
Jesse Kosior; and two great-grandsons, Emerson Armstrong and Evan Armstrong.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Meaux and Ida Girouard Meaux; 
one son, Paul J. Kosior; and two brothers, Edward M. Meaux and Richard C. Meaux.

She was a homemaker and a member of Truth Baptist Church in Gray, La.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 10, at Chauvin Funeral 
Home with a religious service to follow. A graveside service will be at 1:30 
p.m. Monday at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Lafayette.

Sidney Price Sr. of Thibodaux, La., Lawrence Price and Leonard Price of Houston, 
Texas, and James Price of Lafayette, La.; five sisters, Annette Ivy, Rosa 
Lampley and Aurelia Stood of Houston, Naomi Babb and Geraldine Brown of 
Franklin, La.; 21 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lovenia Price; parents Willie Sr. and 
Rosie E. Price; three sons, Willie Price III, Milton Price and Ronald Lee Price; 
and one brother, Julius Thompson.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran. His 
hobbies included gardening.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8, at Mt. Zion Baptist 
Church in Raceland with a religious service to follow. Burial will be at Morning 
Star Baptist Church Cemetery in Raceland.

He was Baptist. He enjoyed telling jokes, drawing, writing music and spending 
time with his family.

stepchildren, Elizabeth B. Cooper, Robert Jr., Eugene, Bertrand, Eva Dell B. 
Randall, Edwine, Mary B. Macklin, John, Paul, Timothy, Patrick and Joseph 
Billiot; five Faucheux stepchildren, Norma F. Duet, Lynne F. Duet, Rose F. Lee, 
Faith F. Serigny and Darren Faucheux; and numerous grandchildren and great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, David; wives, Rita Guidry Whipple and 
Virgie Leonard Faucheux Whipple; parents, Charles Aaron and Euphrosine Guidry 
Whipple; and seven siblings, Lynn, Weldon, Delmore, Maurice, Charles and Rudolph 
Whipple and Coralie "Kitty" Whipple Hornsby.

He was a retiree from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a World War II 
veteran. He was a member and color bearer of the American Legion Post # 242 in 
Patterson, La., VFW # 4222 and the East St. Mary Funeral Squad. He was involved 
in the establishment of the Regional Military Museum in Houma, La., and a 
contributor to the Regional Military Museum Mural. He loved music, especially 
German folk songs. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Morgan City.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to service time Saturday, August 8, at St. Ann 
Catholic Church in Bourg with a military service by the United Veterans League. 
Interment of the ashes will be at 3p.m. Tuesday, August 11, at Morgan City 
Cemetery.

Church. After 35 years of service he retired from Patterson Truck Line. After 
retiring he worked for Rouses Supermarket.

Clara B. Pitre, 89, a native of Lafourche Parish, La., and a life-long resident 
of Raceland, La., died Thursday, Aug. 6.

She is survived by one grandchild, Brandon Pitre; one step-grandchild, Emery 
Chauvin III; two nephews, Roger Bourgeois and wife Carolyn of Houma, La., and 
Abel Bourgeois and wife Kathleen of Denham Springs, La.; one brother, Martial 
Babin Jr.; and one sister, Solidelle Babin Haydel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Malvin Pitre Sr.; one son, Malvin 
Pitre Jr.; parents, Martial Babin Sr. and Evelina Faucheaux Babin; and one 
sister, Leonie Babin Bourgeois.

Clara was born Sept. 12, 1919 in the St. Charles Community. She graduated from 
St. Charles High School where she excelled in basketball and academic 
achievement. She married Malvin Pitre Sr. Oct. 16, 1938 just prior to World War 
II. They were young entrepreneurs, always being self-employed. Clara drove a 
large ice truck and kept the ice route going while Malvin was away in the Army 
serving his country. Later when "Ice Boxes" were replaced by refrigerators, they 
teamed up to run several successful milk distribution routes for Acadia Dairy. 
Clara kept the books while Malvin, Roger and Abel made the deliveries. Malvin 
and Clara enjoyed hard work and taught many others the "virtues of work" by 
employing several young men during the operation of their ice and milk business. 
Clara loved sewing, cooking and visiting with family. She will be greatly missed 
by family and friends.

A special thanks to caregiver Cynthia Johnson for years of loving care.

Patterson, La., Allen Lee Dehart and his wife Gay of Bayou L'ourse, La., and Tex 
Dehart and his wife Kim of Bayou L'Ourse; two sisters, Linda Lirette and Daile

Kyle Waldron.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marie Eunice Landry and 
Willis Dehart Sr.

Willis, also known as "Willie" to many, was a man of deep faith, belonging to 
Trinity Episcopal Church. He served his country during the Vietnam era.

He was a member of the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and AARP. 
Willis was a practical joker and a prankster and he enjoyed a good joke. He 
enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching war movies and wrestling. The cruises he 
took, the Disney trips, and casino trips were some of his fondest memories. He 
enjoyed French and Swamp Pop Music and dancing. One of his specialties was 
boiling seafood. Above all the loves of his life, were his wife, his children 
and his family.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday Aug. 10, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday 
Aug. 11, at Trinity Episcopal Church. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. 
Tuesday followed by burial at Morgan City Cemetery with full military rites 
conducted by the East St. Mary Funeral Squad.

George "Jerry" Bollinger, 67, a lifelong resident of Lockport, La., died at his 
home Monday, Aug. 10.

Carrying on his legacy are his daughter, Lisa Schaffer and husband John; one 
son, Timothy and wife Jolee and their children, Ella and Grant; two brothers, 
Eric Bollinger and Robbie Bollinger; five sisters, Sue Orgeron, Laura Champagne, 
Patty Crochet, Cindy Landry and Mary Bollinger; in-laws, Joann and Chippy 
Catalanotte, Betty Jo and Curtis Quatrevingt, and Robert and Gertie Bushnell; a 
host of nieces and nephews; and ever-faithful beagle, Rascal.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Ruby; parents, George and June 
Bollinger, baby brother, Douglas; and in-laws, Ocy and Margaret Bushnell.

Jerry valiantly and humbly fought cancer allowing his family and friends to care 
for him until the end. He will forever be remembered as a wonderful and loving 
Dad, husband, friend and worker. He will be remembered and missed for his gentle 
spirit, his kind heart, sense of humor and hearty laughter.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Louisiana, the staff at Cancer Center 
of Thibodaux Regional and his sitters who gave their all.

Kenneth John "Red" Newton

Kenneth John "Red" Newton, 90, a native of Wolf Point, Mont., and a resident of 
Thibodaux, La., died Thursday, Aug. 13, at 10:55 a.m.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Newton; three daughters, Sharon Snearly and 
husband Richard of Grants Pass, Ore., Betsy Rodrigues of Clipper Mills, Calif., 
and Peggy Forrestier and husband Sidney of Thibodaux; four sons, Buddy Holder 
and wife Carolyn of Tipton, Calif., Larry Sadler and wife Sue of Sacramento, 
Ky., Carlos Sadler and wife JoAnn of Crossville, Tenn., and Nolan Sadler and 
wife Phyllis of Kevil, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Martha; and one 
daughter, Bernice.

The family would like to thank Thibodaux Regional Medical Center's second floor 
staff, Hospice of South Louisiana, the wonderful members of University Baptist 
Church of Thibodaux, Jim and Jane Duck, Pat and Joe Moore and Sandy Guidry.

Kenneth was born in Wolf Point on Dec. 1, 1918. He was raised and worked on a 
ranch. In his early teens, he hobo-ed all over the country by way of the 
railroads. He returned home and married Martha Meyers. He and Martha settled in 
northern California with their daughters Sharon and Betsy. At the beginning of 
World War II, he joined the Merchant Marines and served in the south China seas 
with pride and dignity on a Liberty ship. After the war, he joined the 
Carpenter's Union in the late 40's and remained a member until his death. After 
Martha passed away, he married Mary Davis in 1972. They lived in a home he built 
in Oroville, Calif., for 30 years. His passion was building and re-building 
antique gas engines. In 2002, he and Mary moved to Thibodaux for their later 
years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift of gab. He had a good, long 
life and died a gentleman's death. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at a later date conducted by his daughter Sharon 
in Grants Pass.

He had a good life and made a lot of lives good. He loved God and was a servant 
of the Lord. He loved, cherished and lived for his family and friends. He lived 
his life to the fullest. He loved fishing, gardening and cooking for all of his 
many friends and family. His heart and his home were always wide open to all in 
need. Kent was a member of the Jaycees, Civitan, Knights of Columbus, Lions 
Club, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Andrews Catholic Church, and the Louisiana 
National Guard.

The visitation will be 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Twin City Funeral 
Home and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A 
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Father Greg Fratt 
officiating and Father Toto assisting. Kent will be laid to rest at the Morgan

Martin Durapau and wife Angela; one brother, Richard Durapau; two sisters, Marie 
Parks and Virginia Nicholas; seven grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcel and Marceline Kinler Durapau; 
four brothers, Walter Durapau, Charles Durapau, Robert Durapau and Marcel 
Durapau Jr.; and two sisters, Marguerite Lauland and Nora Daigle.

He retired as a welder from St. Charles Parish Public Works and enjoyed 
woodworking, gardening and fishing. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most 
Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to masses and flowers 
for the church.

Betty "Debbo" Kelly, 79, a native of Shreveport, La., and a resident of Morgan 
City, La., passed away Monday, Aug. 17, at MC Health Unit.

Debbo is survived by her loving husband, Benton L. Kelly Jr. of Morgan City; one 
son, Benton L. Kelly III and wife Fabiola of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, 
Colleen K. Caillet and husband Craig of New Rhodes, La.; and three wonderful 
grandchildren, Andrew M., Kelly Cherie and Katherine E. Caillett.

Debbo was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. and Bertie H. Fitzgerald; 
and one son, Charles E. Kelly.

The Pall Bearers will be Sostenes Ruiz III, Anthony Guarisco, Steve Ledet, Sam 
Spitale, Denny Thibodeaux and Chuck LaCoutureall. Honorary Pall Bearers will be 
Bernard Spivey, B.C. Fernandez and Wayne McGee.

"Debbo" lived life to the fullest and showed it every moment she could. She was 
a charter member of the Krewe of Galatea, and served 40 years in the Morgan City 
Legal field as a legal secretary and as Clerk of Court for the Morgan City 
court. Debbo enjoyed listening to music, dancing, camping, traveling around and 
visiting Disney World. She loved watching the Navy Blue Angels practice in 
Pensacola, Fla. Most of all she loved relaxing with her grandchildren at the 
condo in Florida. She stayed active all the way until she lost her eyesight in 
Dec. of 2003. She did not let that get her down. She talked and reminisced about 
her days at St. Vincent Academy Shreveport and LSU. Debbo made sure she kept up 
with the Saints seeing that she was a fan.

The Kelly family would like to express their gratefulness to Dr. Francis Metz 
III, Morgan City Healthcare, Dale Parker and Southern Care Hospice for the 
excellent care given to Debbo in her time of need.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in the name of The

of Slidell, La., and Josie M. Noe of Metairie, La.; nine grandchildren; and 
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Jacques Monier and Jennie 
Marrione Monier of New Orleans; two brothers-in-law, Judge Philip N. Pecquet and 
Russell J. Henry; and one niece, Melissa Henry.

Dr. Monier taught at Nicholls State University for many years. He received a 
B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from LSU, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 
electrical engineering from Mississippi State University. He was a registered 
professional mechanical and electrical engineer and a licensed land surveyor. He 
served as an officer in the United States Air Force.

The family wishes to thank Journey Hospice and Grace, Eleanor, Brenda, Peggy and 
Antoinette for their loving care.

Chauvin.

She was a charter member of the Terrebonne Historical and Cultural Society and a 
dedicated historical preservationist. She served on numerous state boards and 
organizations dedicated to the preservation of Louisiana's historical treasures. 
She was also former teacher with the Terrebonne Parish School System.

enjoyed spending time with his family.

Helea Marks Bernard of Port Berry, La.; two grandchildren whom he loved very 
much, Justin and Dayna Chelette; numerous nieces and nephews; and Gary Bullock 
of Morgan City.

Antoine was preceded in death by his father, Francis Bernard; two brothers, 
David Joseph Bernard and John Bernard; and one nephew, James "Jimmy" Bernard.

Antoine loved to hunt and spend his time in the outdoors. He was a member of St. 
Mary Parish AARP.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Twin City Funeral Home. 
A Rosary will be recited at 7p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday, Aug. 22, 8 
a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial 
to follow. Antoine will be laid to rest at the St. Andrew's Cemetery in Amelia, 
La.

Charles of Hartford, Conn.; one daughter, Joyce Judy Bolden of Houma; one 
brother, Francis Westley and wife Theresa of Lafayette, La.; two sisters, Janet 
Robinson of Opelousas, La., and Margaret Fields of Moreno, Calif.; 23 
grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Charles Sr.; parents, Eddie 
Westley Sr. and Rebecca Neville Westley; three sons, Donald Charles Sr., Rinard 
Charles and Benjamin Charles Jr.; three brothers, Eddie Westley Jr., Gilbert 
Westley and Charles Westley Sr.; five sisters, Daisy Cox, Elsie Thompson, 
Octavia Taylor, Mable Beauty and Hilda Stoves; paternal grandparents, London and 
Elsie Moore Westley; and maternal grandparents, Washington and Octavia Theriot 
Neville.

She was Baptist and a member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Dularge, La., where 
she served as a Deaconess and mother of the church. She was retired.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Community Funeral Home. 
A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Residence Baptist Church. Visitation 
will resume Saturday, Aug. 22, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Residence Baptist Church with

Gordon Emile Koenig, 63, a native of Baton Rouge, La., and a resident of 
Chauvin, La., died Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 6:15 a.m.

wife Amy, and Dustin Koenig; two daughters, Tami Tate and Angel Guillory; one 
brother, Mark Sowers; one sister, Kay McNeal; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, William E. Koenig and his wife; and 
mother, Era Mae Johnson Sowers and her husband.

He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and he loved to spend time with his 
grandchildren.

Shirley Ann Bailey, 58, a native of Morgan City, La., and a resident of 
Livingston, La., died at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, La., 
Friday Aug. 21.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Doyle; two sons, Ernest Edwards and his wife 
Kristina of Alvin, Texas, and Doyle Bailey Jr. and his wife Jenniffer of Walker, 
La.; one daughter Stacie Holbert and her husband Chris of Alvin; three brothers 
Andy, Douglass and Jimmy; six sisters, Dora, Barbara, Alberta, Jaynelle, Laura 
and Vilvalia; 13 grandchildren, Blayne, Bryan, Daelynn, Dylan, Chad, Samantha, 
Haley, Ian, Jessica, Alyssa, Kayla, Sean and Whitney; and three great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Albert and Irma Verrett 
Aucoin.

Shirley loved and lived for her husband, her children and grandchildren who were 
very special to her. She was a very caring person with a big heart, always 
putting others before herself. Cooking was one of her great joys and she usually 
made a great chicken stew. Fishing, shopping, traveling and gardening were some 
things she loved to do and had an appreciation for the outdoors. She enjoyed 
watching hummingbirds. She collected any items of Princess Di, Fenton glassware 
and ceramic dolls. She loved music and was one of Elvis' fans. Of all the loves 
of her life, her family came first.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at St. Andrew Catholic 
Church in Amelia, La. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Shirley will be 
laid to rest at St. Andrew Cemetery in Amelia.

Richard "Zip" Bernard, 91, a native and resident of Lockport, La., died Sunday, 
Aug. 23.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Arcement Bernard; two daughters, Sandy 
Bernard St. Pierre and husband Leonard, and Kim Bernard Suggs; two 
grandchildren, Christopher St. Pierre and Benjamin St. Pierre; and four great-
grandchildren, Josie, Kaylie, Carter and Charles St. Pierre.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Bernard Sr. and Ella Aravella 
Bernard; two brothers, Charles Bernard Jr. and Cyril Bernard; two sisters, Ella 
Mae Panttila and Ethel Dufrene; and one son-in-law, CW4 Milton Suggs.

He was a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. He was a U.S. 
Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from LP&L after 42 years of 
service. He was a member of the Henry Robertson American Legion Post 83 for 64 
years where he served as past Commander. He was instrumental in building the 
American Legion Home. He was also a founding member of the Lockport Carnival 
Club. He also belonged to Woodmen of the World, Knights of Columbus and AARP. He 
loved people and enjoyed helping them out and seeing them laugh. He was a proud 
and hard working man and a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart and 
wife of 66 years. He enjoyed cutting fresh flowers every day for his wife. He 
enjoyed casino trips with the Lockport Senior Citizen Center, football games, 
his neighbors, walking, politics and his tools. He faithfully attended church 
every Sunday. He supported numerous charities. Above all, Mr. Zip was a devoted 
caregiver and loved his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great-
grandchildren. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Holy Savior 
Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the 
church cemetery.

Ernestine Boudreaux Ellender, 92, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a 
resident of Houma, La., died Monday, August 24.

She is survived by three sons, Dr. Stephen Ernest (S.E.) Ellender Jr. and wife 
Sandra Schmedtje of Houma, Van Felix Ellender of Houma, and Robert Anthony 
Ellender of Mesa, Ariz.; three daughters, Ernestine Springer and husband 
Lawrence of New Orleans, La., Jane Rabalais of Thibodaux, La., and Anne Phillips 
and husband Morris of New Orleans, 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. S. Ernest Ellender Sr.; parents, 
Van George Boudreaux and Agnes Guidry Boudreaux; one daughter, Stephanie Maud; 
one son-in-law, Dr. Philip D. Rabalais; three sisters, Claire Belanger, Gloria 
Haydel and Marie-Van Boudreaux; three brothers, F.E. Boudreaux, George Loyola 
Boudreaux and J. Emmett Boudreaux; and two granddaughters, Monique Katrine and 
Jeanne Nicole Rabalais.

She received her primary education in the Terrebonne Parish school system and 
obtained her teaching degree at Teacher's College in Natchitoches. She then 
returned to Houma to teach. In 1936 she married Dr. S. Ernest Ellender Sr., co-
founder of Ellender Memorial Hospital. She was a charter member of the 
Terrebonne Parish Medical Society Auxiliary, serving twice as president and in 
numerous other offices of the local organization as well as positions at the 
district and state level. Mrs. Ellender was a lifetime parishioner of St. 
Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was the recipient of two papal awards - the 
"Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" medal, bestowed upon her by Pope Paul VI, and the 
title, "Dame of the Order of St. Gregory the Great", conferred upon her by Pope 
John Paul II. She was devoted to her family and her community. In 1982 she was 
the first recipient of the Tri-Parish Volunteer Activists Award, and in 1990 was 
honored by Catholic Social Services for her work with the board since its 
formation. Terrebonne General Medical Center named her a Grand Dame de la 
Terrebonne. In 1998 she was awarded the Houma Courier's Most Useful Citizen 
Award. She was a member of the Terrebonne Literary Club, the Terrebonne Garden 
Club, the Houma Community Concert Association, and served on the boards of 
Terrebonne Arts, Inc., and the Terrebonne Historical Society.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses for the repose of her soul or 
contributions to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, 1220 Aycock 
Street, Houma, LA 70360, or St Francis de Sales Cathedral, 500 Goode Street, 
Houma, LA 70360.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at St. Francis de Sales 
Cathedral with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. 
Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.

J. Guarisco and wife Laura N. Guarisco of Daphne, Ala.; five grandchildren, 
Kasie L. Guarisco of Lafayette, La., Madeline and Caleb Fendley of Morgan City, 
Sawyer and Calleigh Guarisco of Daphne; mother, Alice G. Sellers of Morgan City; 
one brother, Kenneth W. Sellers and family of Gretna, La.; and one sister, Karen 
G. Guillot and family of Bayou Vista, La.

She was preceded in death by her father, Claude W. "Tobe" Sellers; and one 
nephew, Kelin R. Guillot.

Alice lived life to the fullest at every opportunity and shared her experiences 
with family and friends. She enjoyed being active with all activities 
surrounding her children and grandchildren. Most of all, bowling was her 
favorite sport, participating in the Thursday Morning League in Morgan City and 
traveling to countless tournaments around the country with friends. But if you 
would ask her, the sun rose and set in the lives of her grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, and 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Rose H Percle, 61, a native and resident of Morgan City, La., died Saturday Aug. 
22, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.

Rose is survived by her husband, George Percle of Morgan City; her father, 
Joseph U. Hepler of Morgan City; and two brothers, Joseph "Joey" Hepler and wife 
Julia of Bayou Vista, La., and Johnny Hepler of Lafayette, La.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Vacarella Hepler; and 
grandparents, Joseph and Josephine Vacarella, and Roy Hepler and Odile Creel.

Rose loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was the core of her family. Her 
strong Catholic faith led her to be the person that she was. She was always a 
big hearted person who helped others before herself. She spanned the ages as she 
could love and relate to children as well as loving and relating to older 
people. Her compassion was shared with all people that crossed her path. Riding 
on the back of a Harley with her husband George driving was one of her great 
joys as they did that many times. She also enjoyed music and cooking. Rose was 
very creative and she used this attribute to help plan many weddings for friends 
and family alike. "Relay for Life" was also something that Rose very strongly 
involved in and supported.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church with a memorial mass to follow.

Plaisance and Allen "A.J" Plaisance; and two sisters, Rose P. Orgeron and 
Lovinia P. Thibodaux.

She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, Followers of Mary, and Catholic 
Daughters.

nurse Christy Billiot.

many as "The Tax Lady", died Friday, Aug. 21, at 10:31 p.m.

She is survived by one son, Gene Paul Darcey and wife Madeline of Baton Rouge, 
La., two daughters, Jill Darcey Deroche and Joan Darcey Toups and husband Benson 
P. Toups Jr. of Bayou Blue; one brother, Duell J. Robertson of Thibodaux, La.; 
one sister Mrs. Douglas (Wanda) Canafax of Houma, La., seven grandchildren; and 
11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Joseph Thibodaux; parents, 
Augustine and Corrine Robertson; four brothers, Norris, Ashby, Farrel and Enoch 
Robertson; and one sister, Molly Boudreaux.

Grace lived a long and productive life. Nothing brought her greater joy than to 
be surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and working in her 
tax office. She was able to work through the week before her death, and was 
surrounded by her children and grandchildren at the end. For Grace, it was the 
perfect ending to a wonderful life.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at First Presbyterian 
Church of Bayou Blue in Gray, La., with a religious service to follow. Burial 
will be at the church cemetery.

was a parishioner of St. Matthews Episcopal Church. She loved her family and 
friends and her animals. She loved people!

St. Joseph Masonic Lodge # 15 and a member of John Parsons Consistory # 170. His 
hobbies included fishing.

She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Co-Cathedral Catholic Church. She also was a 
member of Knights of Peter Claver. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing and 
shopping.

Visitation will be 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday Aug. 29, at St. Joseph Co-
Cathedral Catholic Church in Thibodaux with a Mass of Christian Burial to

He was Baptist and a deacon at Christ Missionary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. 
Army veteran and served in World War I and II.

husband Michael of West Helena, Ark., and Anita Simmons and husband Joe of Horn 
Lake, Miss.; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Oneal; maternal grandparents, 
George and Pearl Gentry; and paternal grandparents, Tom and Lottie Mae Oneal.

David enjoyed his fishing but nothing could ever take the place of being a huge 
fan of NASCAR. David loved wearing his hats and cowboy boots so much that he 
became a collector of both and you could hardly ever get him out of his jeans. 
David was the type of person that never met a stranger wherever he went, even if 
he was out of town at the time. But most of all what his family will remember 
about him was how supportive and loving of a father and devoted husband he was. 
David enjoyed and loved his five daughters very much and enjoyed sharing his 
life with his wife.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. 
Thursday, Sept. 3, at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City, La. The funeral 
service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. John M. Smilie 
officiating. David will be laid to rest at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

and Doresia Thibodeaux Trosclair; six foster brothers, Percy, Nolan, Lucious, 
Calvin, Kerwin and Chester; and five foster sisters, Effie T. Fryou, Libby T. 
Collins, Nora T. Christy, Lucille T. Ball and Margie T. Carrere.

She was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a 
member of the American Legion Post 380, VFW 9608 Ladies Auxiliary, St. Joseph's 
Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, Court Pere Denece', Ward 
Seven Citizens Club, St. Joseph's choir and Chauvin Senior Corporate Club. She 
also was a religion teacher for several years. During the war, she worked in a 
defense plant in New Orleans, La. She also worked as a librarian in Chauvin and 
as a receptionist for Dr. John and Anna Plauche.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at St. Joseph 
Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. 
Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
