Roger was known throughout Louisiana and Florida as the innovator who introduced artificial lures to big game fishing in the Gulf of Mexico to great success. He was raised in the close-knit community of the Humble Oil Camp on Grand Isle where he spent summers soaking up fishing knowledge on charter boats. After graduating from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in 1970, he worked in boat brokerages, but was always in demand as a captain during tournaments throughout the Gulf Coast. He spent 15 years as a professional marina manager at Oceanside Marina in Key West, Fla., leading successful property development projects and acting as the local IGFA representative. A long time resident of Morgan City, Willment was best known as "Lap the Barber" by his friends and customers. He practiced his profession from 1936 till the age of 87. Lap enjoyed visiting with his customers and is remembered for his quickness and precision cuts. Flat tops were his specialty. Lap loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed his seaplane and shrimp boats. His family will remember all the seafood and barbecue gatherings. Lap knew how to fix anything and if he didn't he would continue until he figured it out. He never gave up and never stopped. He often would say, "tomorrow will be an even better day". Truly it is for him today. For us he will be sadly missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lelious Rita Lajaunie Stuard; grandmother, Thelma Liner Breaux; and one grandson, Gage Lajaunie. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Samart Funeral Home in Houma. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Outlaw Cemetery in Arkansas.
