Donald was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army 1st Calvary Division serving from June 8, 1948 to April 1, 1950. During his active life, he worked for National Linen Service, St. Charles Public Schools as a bus driver, had his own business and cattle ranch, and was co-founder of Dynamic Real Estate Inc. His dream in life was to travel the country he loved so much, and upon retirement, he and his wife did just that, visiting all of the lower 48 states. His eternally optimistic spirit touched everyone he knew, and he will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of being part of his life. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Betty; one daughter, Daphne; one grandson, Marlon; two sisters-in-law, Marva Madise and her husband Whitney, and Patricia Hawkins and her husband Vernon; one brother- in-law, Rudolph Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Edward, affectionately known as "Doc," was born March 29, 1936, in Morgan City. He was the only child of the late Anola Marie Lewis Jacquet and Dr. Edward Fredrick Jacquet. During his formative years, he attended public school in Morgan City. He completed formal elementary and high school education in boarding school. From 1949-53, Edward attended Palmer Memorial Institute in Sedalia, N.C. Upon graduation from Palmer, he entered Lincoln University in Lincoln University, Pa. He matriculated in 1957, having earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology with minors in Social Studies and Latin. In 1958 Edward attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, La., and received his Teaching Certification. He and Betty Ann Banks were united in holy matrimony at Holy Eucharist Church on June 15, 1958. To this union a daughter, Daphne Ann, was born. A committed educator, he began his career in 1959 in the St. Mary Parish Public School System as a biology instructor at Willow Street School in Franklin, La. He served in the United States Army from 1960-62, stationed at Fort Jackson, S.C. During 1968 and the summer of 1969, Edward attended the University of Arizona at Tucson, Ariz., where he pursued a Masters Degree in Biology. He transferred to Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La., and completed his studies for Masters of Education in 1971. Additionally, he earned 30-plus hours at Nicholls in 1972. Edward served as principal at Verdunville Elementary in 1970. From 1971-82, he was principal at Hattie Watts Elementary School in Patterson, La. In 1982 he received a promotion to the position of Supervisor of Mathematics and Science for St. Mary Parish. Edward again was promoted as Director of Transportation and Child Welfare for St. Mary Parish and served in that capacity from 1987-91, at which time he retired. Edward was extremely involved in his community and served as a board member of Lakewood Hospital (now Teche Regional Medical Center) in Morgan City from 1970-90. He is a past board member of the Morgan City Chamber of Commerce, Substance Abuse of Morgan City, and Catholic Charities of Houma, La. He served on the Board of Directors of St. Mary Outreach for more than 10 years. He was a member of the St. Anthony Society, Knights of Columbus and Parish Council four times. Edward was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity for more than 46 years. He was also a past member of the W.H. Ennis Elks Lodge. An active and life-long parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City, he served as an usher and Eucharistic minister until his health failed. Edward worked for many years as an assistant in the religious program for youngsters in grades 9-11 at Sacred Heart. After retirement, he re-entered the work force as an instructor for Community Action Agency's JAG program. Edward loved his church and family and cherished his grandson, Marlon Edward. Ed loved good food, a good joke and social gatherings. He will be remembered for the annual Super Bowl party, Good Friday crawfish boil, Christmas Eve gumbo and much, much more. Edward will be lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife Sharon, one son, Michael and partner James Barnes of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Lisa Hampton and husband Michael of Morgan City, and Serina Mitcham of Fort Smith, Ark.; one sister, Eva Dell Billiot Whipple of Morgan City; five grandchildren, Keith, Danielle and Trevor Hampton, and Randy Lynn and Taylor Mitcham; and his beloved dog "Misty". He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edgar and Eva Young Grow; three brothers, Eugene and Edgar Grow Jr., and Ervin Daisy; and two sisters, Elaine Verrett and Elizabeth Van Matre. Edwin was the director the lab department at Lakewood Hospital and Teche Regional Medical Center for many years. He was a very devout Catholic who attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic minister, C.C.D. teacher, Sacred Heart Parish Council president, as well as leader of the "Filled with the Holy Spirit", Come Lord Jesus group. It could be said that Ed never met a stranger and was respected by all that knew him. He helped with the Louis Infant Crisis Center, an orphanage, and the Assisi House, a drug and alcohol rehab center. Ed was an avid gardener who loved to go to his camp and spoiled his grandchildren. Ed was a former board member of the Morgan City Federal Credit Union and the Chamber of Commerce as well as a present member of the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Morgan City. Besides his involvement with his church and his community, Ed was also very active with the American Legion, and the 40 and 8, locally, state wide, as well as nationally. Post 242 of the American Legion was his choice of association, and he held many offices including Post Commander, Post Adjutant, District Adjutant, Secretary of the Past Commanders Club and Chairman of the Department Ways and Means Commission as well as being a member of the Department Convention and the Legislative Commission. In the 40 and 8, Ed was V1618 Correspondent Locale and Grand Commissaire Intendent and the Grand Chef de Train. He was a member of the Carville Star, Time & Place and War Veterans Home Committee and formerly held offices of Grand Chef de Gare Passe and National Cheminot Passe. Ed met Sharon Wagner, the love of his life in France, while they were both in the U.S. Army. Ed and Sharon wed soon after and returned to Morgan City to raise their family. Margaret was a faithful Catholic and mother to all who ever knew her. She had overflowing love for all of her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Ladies Altar Society at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista for many years and attended the Rosary Prayer Group faithfully every Tuesday. Margaret served the priest and bishops of the diocese with her cooking and housekeeping at the church where she worked for many years with devotion. Margaret was the first of nine children and the rock that kept the family together. Margaret did not stop being a rock and mother to her family, she continued with the nature that God gave her and became mother and rock to many others through her life as she served her family and church. She loved to hunt in her youth along with traveling, fishing, camping, cooking and passing a good time with family and friends. Margaret had a green thumb and loved all that she and the good Lord grew. Margaret "A lover of life and people" will be truly missed deeply by all that knew her. She was such an example of a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and most of all a Christian. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Hebert Boudreaux; one son, Dirk Boudreaux and wife Deandra Terrebonne; one daughter, Melanie B. Charpentier and husband Robert; and six grandchildren, Casey Boudreaux, Carly Boudreaux, Rustie Charpentier, Luke Charpentier, Colby Boudreaux and Jake Charpentier. He was preceded in death by his parents, Volney and Justillia St. Pierre Boudreaux; and one brother, Luke Jake Boudreaux. The old coach finally hung up his whistle after battling congestive heart failure for the past 13 months. Except for a brief period in the U.S. Army, he lived his entire life in Golden Meadow. He was an outstanding athlete in both football and basketball, and played in the state all-star game in basketball after his senior season. He graduated from South Louisiana Institute, where he was a two year letterman in baseball. He began his teaching career in 1956 at Golden Meadow High School. In 1963, he was the head coach at the class "A" runner up baseball team. When South Lafourche High School opened in 1966, he joined the faculty at the new school. He taught Physical Education in addition to coaching football, basketball and baseball during his tenure. He was an assistant coach on the school's two football state championship teams in 1971 and 1977. During this time, he and his family spent their summers at the University of Mississippi, where he received his Masters Degree in Education in 1969. He retired for the first time in 1980 and joined Bo-Truc in their operations area. In 1986, he re-entered the teaching profession as an Elementary Physical Education Instructor at the Grand Isle School. He taught there for 13 years and was twice recognized as teacher of the year. In total, he spent 38 years as a coach and educator. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. His later years were spent enjoying his grandchildren and following their sporting activities. Throughout his coaching career, he made many friends who remained his friends for life. He was Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Golden Meadow.
