Mr. Alton Dorsey, 61, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Friday, Nov. 
27, 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Willa Mae Dorsey; son, Preston Azema; stepson, 
Lionel Azema Jr.; daughters, Jamie Azema, Geraldine Beamon, Gwen and Gail Diggs 
and Elizabeth (Eddie) Clark; brothers, Edward (Ursula), Jerome (Yowello) and 
Bobby Dorsey and Darren and Alvin (JoAnn) Sylvan; sisters, Ruby (Philip) 
Watkins, Cora (Jared) Shanklin, Carla Williams, Barbara Bradley and Geraldine 
(Henry) Hampton; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was Baptist.

He is buried at Moses Baptist Church Cemetery in Thibodaux.

NILTON PAUL ESCHETTE

Mr. Nilton Paul Eschette, 84, a native of Lockport, La., and a resident of Eagle 
Island, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at 10:35 a.m.

He is survived by his wife, L. Nelcie Toups Eschette; sons, Nilton (Kathy) and 
Weldon (Madonna) Eschette; daughters, Nelcie (Carroll) Guidry and Nelda 
(Michael) Bourgeois; sister, Pearl Arceneaux; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-
grandchildren.

He was a parishioner of St. Hilary Catholic Church in Raceland, La. He was a 
member of the Cattleman's Association and Woodmen of the World.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at St. Hilary Catholic 
Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at Resurrection 
Memorial Park in Raceland.

Mr. George D. Landwehr, 86, a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of 
Lockport, La., died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at 3:50 p.m.

He is survived by his nieces, Ramona (Lester) Griffin and Rebecca (William) 
Welker; nephews, Robert (Beth) and Glen Fenasci, and Robert (Norma) and Randy 
(Carol) Gautreaux; and sister-in-law, Lena Gautreaux.

He was a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran 
and a member of the American Legion. He retired from the Department of Veteran 
Affairs. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed telling World War II stories.

He is buried at Holy Savior Catholic Church Cemetery.

Mr. Edward P. Pierce, 77, a native of Lafourche Parish, La., and a resident of 
Lockport, La., died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at 3:31 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Danos Pierce; son, Philip P. Pierce; brothers, 
Fred, Franklin Jr., Daniel and Herbert Pierce; sisters, Elsie Trant and Helen 
Vicknair; and one grandchild.

He was a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Holy Savior 
Catholic Church in Lockport with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will 
be at the church cemetery.

Toby Matthews Daisy, 34, a native of Houma, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, 
La., died on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009.

He is survived by his parents, Walton "Buddy" and Shirley DeHart Daisy; sisters, 
Shantele (David Jr.) Songe and Tabatha (James) Pitre; brother, Jefferson 
(fiancˇe Vickie Tabler) Daisy; four nieces; six nieces; and one great-niece.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Dan Daisy; grandfathers, Morris "Myse) 
DeHart Sr. and Walter Daisy Sr.; grandmothers, Adeline DeHart and Delia "MawMaw 
Dee" Daisy; uncle, James Daisy; cousin, Dwight Daisy; and aunt, Maria Daisy 
DeHart.

Mr. Daisy was the manager of Buddy's Seafood. He is a member of St. Andrews 
Episcopal Church, and a 1994 graduate of Terrebonne High School. He attended 
Louisiana State University and was a loyal Tiger fan.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m., at St. 
Matthews Episcopal Church. He will be buried at Terrebonne Memorial Park.

Ellis Duet, 82, a native and resident of Galliano, La., died Dec. 2, 2009.

He is survived by one stepson, Octave (Jennifer) Borne; daughters, Cheri 
(Chester Jr.) Stewart and Rita (Brian) Pontiff; stepdaughters, Arlene (Richard) 
Constantino and Bette (Mark) Henry; brother, Clifton Duet; one grandchild; and 
six step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna, H. Duet; parents, Arthur and Felicia 
T. Duet; brothers, Leonce, Morris, Wilfred, Alcide, Edmond, Elton and Roland 
Duet; and sisters, Leoncia Gisclair, Armena Orgeron, Nancy Neal and Bertha 
Bourgeois.

Mr. Duet was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in 
Golden Meadow, La.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 4, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Prompt 
Succor. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at the church beginning at 11 
a.m.

Mr. Duet will be buried in Hebert Cemetery in Galliano.

Golden J. Dufrene, 66, a native of Golden Meadow, La., and a resident of 
Galliano, La., died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at 5:31 a.m.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanelle Esponge Dufrene; father, Norab Dufrene; 
son, Scott A. Dufrene; daughter, Jamie (John) Wagnon; brother, Leroy Dufrene; 
sisters, Sue Cheramie, Cynthia Duet and Debbie Gisclair; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Loridia Callais Dufrene.

Mr. Dufrene was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a member of St. 
Joseph Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus.

Visitation is set for Friday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 10 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 5, 
from 8 to 10:45 a.m., at Falgout Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will 
be held Saturday, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano.

He will be buried at the St. Joseph Cemetery.

DONALD NICHOLAS DUPRE


Donald Nicholas Dupre, 70, a native of Pointe-Aux-Chene, La., and resident of 
Houma, La., died Dec. 2, 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Darline Cantrelle Dupre; sons, Steven (Margo) and 
Keith (Amy) Dupre and Paul "P.J." (April) Foret; daughters, Donna Trahan, Tara 
LeFouef and Candida (Keith) Merchant; brother, Wayne Dupre; sisters, Iona Pinel, 
Darlene Peeples and Myrna Baderow; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-
grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph "Ivy" and Gertrude Dupre Dupre; 
and brother, Elfray Dupre.

Mr. Dupre served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a lifetime member of the 
Houma-Terrebonne Marine Corps League.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Samart Funeral 
Home of Houma. He will be cremated.

Era Fay "Frinchie" Dupree, 87, a native of Houston, Texas, and a resident of 
Chauvin, La., died on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at 11:19 a.m.

Fredrick and Deborah (Michael) Denning; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. and Era J. Rowell Dupree; 
wife, Mary Huskey Dupree; sister, Vera Dupree; and brothers, Abe, Charlie and 
Leroy Dupree.

Mr. Dupre was a member of the South Terrebonne Church of Christ, Woodmen of the 
World and the VFW. He was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle 
Association.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3, at Chauvin Funeral Home, from 4 to 
9 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. until service time at Roller Crouch 
McGee Funeral Home in Cave City, Ark.

A veteran's service will be held Dec. 5, at 10 a.m., at Roller Crouch McGee

(Ronnie) Blanchard; Lanni Lynn "Twirp" (Gary "Blue" Jr.) Bouquet and Robbie 
Boudreaux; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest Prosperie; and devoted niece, 
Mercedes Fabre Picou.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Hebert; parents, Joseph "Joe" and 
Alena Lirette Prosperie; daughter, Faith "Chickie" (Robert) Boudreaux; brothers, 
Junius and Murphy Prosperie; sister, Eula Prosperie; and great-grandchild, Macie 
Lynn Blanchard.

Mrs. Hebert was retired from Terrebonne General Medical Center, where she served 
as a nurse's aide for 33 years. She was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo 
Catholic Church, and enjoyed fishing and spending time at her Cocodrie camp.

She is buried in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

Ruth Marie LeBlanc, 83, a native of Schriever, La., and a resident of Lockport, 
La., died on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at 11:30 a.m.

She is survived by sons, Glenn James (fiancˇe Jackie Voss), Philip John (Marie), 
Bryan Anthony (Susan) and Wayne Gregory (Elsie) Leblanc; brother, Leroy LeBoeuf; 
sister, Lula Hayes and Beverly Lister; 10 grandchildren; and six great-
grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Peter LeBlanc; parents, Alcide 
and Agnes B. LeBoeuf and Alex and Lilian B. Babin; brothers, Mitchell, Fred, 
Carroll, Leonce and Albert Babin; sisters, Ruby Lirette and Louella Breaux.

Mrs. LeBlanc was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, where 
she also served as a Eucharistic minister. She was a member of Bayou Blue Senior 
Citizens Club and the Kay Cee Ladies Auxiliary in Lockport.

She enjoyed going to the casinos and celebrating Mardi Gras and was an 
outstanding humanitarian in her community.

Visitation is set for Friday, Dec. 4, from 8 to 10 a.m., at Chauvin Funeral Home 
Inc.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m., at St. 
Gregory. She will be buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

Mr. Richard J. Lirette, 72, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, 
Nov. 28, 2009 at 5:40 a.m.

He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Lirette and Amy (Denis) Wong; brother, 
Gary (Louise) Lirette; sister, Connie Lirette; and three grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked for Hughes Aircraft and was 
responsible for managing programs for the launching of missiles and rockets.

Mrs. Porche was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Church and a member of 
Catholic Daughters.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Monday, Dec. 7, 
from 8 a.m. until the service, at Maria Immacolata's chapel.

The funeral will be held at the church Monday, beginning at 11 a.m. She will be

Terry Joseph Babin Sr., 66, a native and resident of Houma, died Monday, Nov. 
23, 2009.

Funeral services were held at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 
with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Cressonie Babin of Houma; one son, Terry Babin 
Jr. and wife, Andrea, of Houma; two daughters, Stacy Clement and husband, Craig, 
of Houma, and Wendy Guerrero and husband, David, of Houma; one brother, Charles 
Babin of Tigard, Ore.; two sisters, Shirley Picou and Betty Becnel of Houma; six 
grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Berwick J. Babin and Ophelia Bourg 
Babin; one brother, Joseph Babin Sr.; and two sisters, Ruth Detiveaux and 
Barbara Prestenbach.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church and 
employed with Hercules Offshore.

Mona Marie Pope Bergeron, 69, a Woodward resident, died in Oklahoma City on 
Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009.

A prayer vigil will be held 6 p.m. Sunday at the St. Peter's Catholic Church 
with Deacon Phil Kenny officiating. Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at the church 
officiated by the Rev. Scott Boeckman, with interment to follow in Elmwood 
Cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, CWO Dane Bergeron of Fort Bragg, N.C., and David 
Bergeron and wife, Misty, of Woodward; two daughters, Lisa Bellows and husband, 
Ricky, of Woodward, and Laurel Billiot and husband, Don, of Woodward; one 
brother, Odis Pope and wife, Mona, of Bourg; one sister, Sharon Peltier and 
husband, Wilbert, of Chauvin; her mother-in-law, Verona Bergeron of Houma; 10 
grandchildren, Erika Tyson, Colt and Dustin Elliot; Kortni and Kobe Bellows, 
Aaron and Thea Bergeron, Kris Nelson, all of Woodward, SPC 4 Ben Bergeron of 
Savannah, Ga., and Amanda Bergeron of Bourg; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee 
Frazier of Woodward; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Odis and Eula Ann Pope; and her 
husband, Earl Bergeron on May, 9, 2007.

Mona was born on March 29, 1940 in Houma, La. Mona grew up in Montegut, La., and 
graduated from Terrebonne High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to 
Earl Joseph Bergeron on April 30, 1958 in Montegut. They were blessed with four 
children. They made their home in Houma until Earl was transferred to Woodward 
in the mid 1970's. She was a seamstress and worked out of her home for many 
years.

Mona was a faithful member of the St. Peters Catholic Church and a member of the 
MOC, VFW Auxiliary, and Ladies Altar Society. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peters Altar Society with the 
funeral home accepting the contributions.

Billings Funeral Home of Woodward is in charge of arrangements.

Iris Mercedes Boudreaux, 94, a native of Morgan City and resident of New 
Orleans, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 
a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Service will be 
11 a.m. Monday at the cathedral, with burial in the cathedral's cemetery no. 2.

She is survived by two daughters, Anita Louise Madrazo and husband, Frank, of 
Gretna, and Iris Elizabeth Boudreaux of New Orleans; one sister, Marjorie 
Domangue Guidry of Houma; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-
great-grandchildren; one step-brother; and two step-sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Joseph Boudreaux; her parents, 
Henry S. Simoneaux and Emily Frederick Simoneaux; one son, Kenneth Raphael 
Boudreaux; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, a member of Auxiliary 
of Legion of Mary, a member of the Young at Heart Ladies Club and a member of 
the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lions Club.

The family extends a special thank you to her physicians and the staff at The 
Landing at Behrman Place. We would also like to thank anyone else along the way 
who may have given Iris or the family comfort and prayers.

Reynold Boudreaux, 65, of Purvis, Miss., formerly of Houma, died at Wesley 
Medical Center in Hattiesburg on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.

Service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home officiated by the Rev. Alton 
Fagan, with burial in Forrest Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Boudreaux of Purvis; five daughters, Crystal 
Giroir, Sherry Boudreaux and Patricia Ann Verdin, all of Houma, Mary Faye 
Williams of South Carolina, and Paulla Laurenzi of Southaven, Miss.; two sons, 
Reynold Boudreaux Jr. of Houma, and Harvey Paul Dykes Jr. of Petal; 20 
grandchildren; four sisters, Janice Harris and Imogene Boudreaux, both of Houma, 
Darlene Boudreaux of Missouri, and Marion Henry Boudreaux of Poplarville; and

past 43 years, passed away at his residence on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.

and Karl Cheramie; and one great-grandson, Caleb Yancey.

He was a veteran, having served our country as a staff sergeant in the U.S. 
Army. He retired from Southeastern Louisiana University after 21 years of 
employment as a senior electrician.

Boo was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish with his friends. He was 
a 1952 graduate of Thibodaux College. He served his country in the Korean 
Theater and was honorably discharged in 1962. Boo then attended the Southwestern 
Louisiana Institute, "SLI" in Lafayette and Nicholls State University in 
Thibodaux. He retired from Chevron in Leeville in 1992 after 30 years of 
service.

Joy and Andy supported. She was a loving mother and fabulous cook. She enjoyed 
spending time with her family and friends, giving to others and will be dearly 
missed by all who knew and loved her.

Michael Joseph LeBlanc, Sr., 50, a native and resident of Houma, died Saturday, 
Nov. 21, 2009.

Funeral services were held last month at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma, 
with burial in St. Francis Cemetery No. 1.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Trosclair Crochet of Houma; one son, 
Michael J. LeBlanc Jr. of Houma; three daughters, Torie LeBlanc and fiancˇ, Cory 
McGehee, of Houma, Tiffany LeBlanc Keller and husband, Josh, of Ormond Beach, 
Fla. and Sherri LeBlanc of Houma; one sister; Barbara LeBlanc Plake of Houma; 
and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey LeBlanc Sr.; and one brother, 
Aubrey LeBlanc Jr.

sisters, Mable Morvant, Gertrude Simoneaux, Henrietta Landry and Francis Reulet; 
eight grandchildren, Charles Blanchard Jr., Donald Ramon Blanchard, Bonnie 
Roten, Wendy Gaudet, Kelly Folse, Kyle Folse and Jeffrey "Jay" Folse Jr.; nine 
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Landry Mahler; his parents, Henry 
Mahler Sr. and Florestine Durocher Mahler; four brothers, Louis "Jack" Mahler, 
Claude Mahler, Norman Mahler and Henry Mahler Jr.; and two sisters, Louise 
Constant and Jeanne Guidry.

Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eldieth Vicknair Matherne; his parents,

Cleveland Matherne and Dennis "Bud" Matherne; and two sisters, Blanche Cressoni 
and Lydia Dardar.

He was a parishioner of First Assembly of God Des Allemands. His hobbies were 
fishing, hunting, gardening and raising cattle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Thibodeaux Sr.; her parents,

of the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 22 years of service. He was a member of 
American Legion Post 272, 622 A.R.E.F.S. and a lifetime member of VFW 40/8.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 9 p.m., at Chauvin Funeral 
Home in Houma, and Thursday, Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. until service time at Sacred

enjoyed cooking.

Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Ruth Ann 
Robinson, age 82, the former Ruth Ann Chiasson, who passed away Saturday, 
December 12, 2009 at 3:07 p.m. at her residence in Lafayette.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. 
Monday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. to service time on Tuesday. Interment 
will be in St. Peter Catholic Mausoleum in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, 
pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. 
Giftbearers will be Broc Guidry, Jade Guidry and Anna Broussard.

Musical selections will be provided by Julie Broussard, accompanied by Phyllis

Lafayette; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and one brother,

She was preceded in death by her husband Lester J. Robinson; her parents, Claude

Society and the Ladies Altar Society. She was also a member of C.O.D.A.

She is survived by her parents, Nolan Sr. and Mary Hudson Triggs of Thibodaux;

A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, Morvant served in Guam and was awarded the 
WWII Victory Medal. After graduating from Soule Business College and taking 
addition courses at Delgado Community College and Tulane University, he was 
named safety director for Standard Dredging Corporation and safety director 
personnel manager of Zapata Corporation.

He was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus of Destrehan Council 3634, a choir 
member at St. Christopher Church in Metairie, La., and Our Lady of the Angels 
Catholic Church in Waggaman, La.. For his work at Our Lady of the Angels, he was 
given the Order of St. Louis Medallion.

He is buried at Garden of Memories in Metairie.

He is survived by one son, retired Air Force Master Sgt. Jerry "Joey" Theriot 
Jr. and wife, Emelie; one granddaughter, Sydney Theriot of Fairborn, Ohio; one 
brother, Larry P. Theriot and wife, Judy G. Theriot, of Raceland; two nieces, 
Kimberly Theriot-Smith of Raceland, and Alyson Theriot of Thibodaux; and 
numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph "S. Hart" Theriot and Bernice 
Foret Theriot.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1940 in Marrero. He grew up in the St. Charles 
Community and graduated from Raceland High School in 1958. Following graduation, 
he attended Moler Barber College and worked as a barber for several years. Jerry 
was drafted and proudly served in the United States Army. Upon discharge, he 
worked as a barber and later joined the Ironworkers Local Union No. 58 in New 
Orleans where he was a structural ironworker. He worked as a contract worker on 
nuclear power plants which enabled him to reside in several states across the 
United States.

According to his wishes, his body will be cremated and in the spring, his ashes 
will be spread on the lake near his home in Kentucky. Jerry will be remembered 
for his love of life.

was a retired oil field worker in Houma. He loved hunting and fishing.

Anthony J. "Pina" Politz, 84, a native of Napoleonville and resident of Cypress,

Mr. Politz was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran - surviving a Kamikaze attack on 
the destroyer USS Sigsbee at Okinawa. A 43-year employee of Valley Steel 
Products Company, he retired as vice president. He was a member of the Knights 
of Columbus 1099, VFW and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kate Denoux Politz; son, Timothy Politz; 
daughters, Cathlyn (John) Mayson and Terry (Paul) Brown; sister, Lucille "Lou" 
(Charles) Simoneaux; brothers, Russell "Bill" and John (Betty) Politz; five 
grandchildren, Brent Mayson, Cheri Longan and Angie, Courtney and Taylor Politz;

Dr. Ira Jelin Woodstein, 80, a native of Elizabeth, N.J., died Monday, Dec. 14, 
2009.

A graduate of the University of Louisville Medical School, Dr. Woodstein served 
as a U.S. Navy officer until 1981. He completed his orthopedic residency at the 
Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Va. He served as chairman of the Department of 
Orthopedics at the Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, Ill.; chairman of the Department 
of Orthopedics at the Naval Hospital, Oakland, Calif.; commanding officer at the 
Naval Hospital, Guam, Marianna Islands; commanding officer of the Naval 
Hospital, Charleston, S.C. After retiring from the military, he served as chief 
of The Ochsner Foundation Resident Training Program for Orthopedic Surgery, 
South Louisiana Medical center of Houma and, later, at Ochsner Clinic's 
Department of Orthopedics in New Orleans. He was a member of the American 
Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Mid-America Orthopedics Association, American 
College of Surgeons and the Louisiana Orthopedic Association.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Ferrer Woodstein; daughters, 
Anne Lesley Miller and Wendy Shelhamer; sons-in-law, Neil Traylor III and Scott 
Shelhamer; and four grandchildren, Allyson Patricia Miller, Anne Victoria 
Traylor, Kate Leigh Shelhamer and Luke Scott Shelhamer.

Paul loved traveling, adventure, flying, riding his dream motorcycle and sailing 
in his sailboat, the Creole Angel. He was a member of the Krewe of Endymion in 
New Orleans. He was a very generous and compassionate man whose greatest 
fulfillment was helping others. He was a loving husband, stepfather, son, 
brother and uncle to his many nieces and nephews that he loved very much. He 
deeply enjoyed spending time at home with his wife, stepdaughter, and many pets. 
His final request was to "Cast my ashes in blue waters." He will be sadly missed 
by all who knew him.

of South Butler Dog Hunting Association for over 20 years. He was a trawler, 
trapper and owner of Prosperie's Net Shop. He retired from McDermott Ship Yard, 
a past member of Voice of the Lord Ministry, a parishioner and Eucharistic 
Minister of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chauvin and a member of the "Our Lady of 
Prompt Succor Adoration Chapel". He was also a member of St. Joseph's annual 
boat blessing committee and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5013. He 
will be greatly missed.

Dr. Elvin Joseph Dantin, Sr., P.E., Ph.D. was born January 13, 1927, in Golden 
Meadow, Louisiana. He graduated from Golden Meadow High School in 1943 and 
attended LSU for 1 year and then served in World War II with the 1581 
Engineering Battalion on Attu in Aleutian Islands, Alaska 1945-1947. He returned 
to LSU where he received his B.S. in 1949 and M.S. Degree in 1952 in Civil 
Engineering, and received his PhD degree from Stanford University in 1960 at 
Palo Alto, California in structural and environmental engineering with a minor 
in hydraulic engineering. He was recipient of the National Science Foundation 
Fellowship and also the Edward Jones, Jr. Memorial Scholarship from Stanford 
University.

E.J. returned to LSU and after 34 years he retired as Professor of Civil 
Engineering Emeritus of LSU, Founding Director of LSU Division of Engineering 
Research and Louisiana Water Resources Research Institute and EPA's Center of 
Excellence of Hazardous Waste Research. In 1984, E.J. was the Founding Dean of 
the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering and retired from FAMU/FSU in 1987. He then 
returned to FAMU/FSU in 1990 as Professor and Dean Emeritus for the Department 
of Civil Engineering, was Interim Department Chair, Director of Radon research 
and retired in 1994. E.J. was a Founding Member of St. Aloysius Church and a 
Charter Member of the Parish Council where he served as President. He was a 3rd 
and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus for 58 years. He was a Charter 
Member of Council and served as Grand Knight.

E.J. Dantin married Ruth Patricia Rebstock on June 2, 1947 and is survived by 
four sons, Elvin J. Dantin, Jr. and wife, Joan, Chris A. Dantin and wife, Cleme, 
Mark S. Dantin and wife, Linda, and J. Keith Dantin and wife, Debbie; one 
daughter Ruth Elizabeth Donner and husband, Dr. Tom; 13 grandchildren, Derek and 
wife, Kristen, Damon, Dirk and wife, Tisbee, Christopher and wife, Christy, 
Brian and wife, Rebekah, Chase and wife, Katherine, Beau and wife, Sara, Shane, 
Luke, Austin, Blake, Alexandra, and Jack; six great-grandchildren, Duke, Andrew, 
Charlie, William, Carter and Reese; and five siblings Lee Roy, L. J., Terry,

She is survived by one daughter, Gerline Esponge Vizier; five grandchildren; 17 
great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Provis Esponge; her parents, Armond
