Verdie Joseph Cortez, 84, a native and resident of Kraemer, died Monday, June 7, 
2010.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Lawrence the 
Martyr Church in Kraemer. Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with 
burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by three sons, Dudley Cortez and wife, Barbara, Nathan Cortez and 
wife, Marilyn, and Verdie Cortez Jr. and wife, Thelma; four daughters, Stella 
Stein and husband, Ronald, Dorene Bailey, Kathy Leonard and husband, Alphonse, 
and Donna Darnell; one brother, Eddie Cortez; two sisters, Mary Alice Louque and 
Loutisha Kliebert; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Earline Cortez; his parents, Victor Cortez 
and Esperance Loupe Cortez; one son-in-law, Gerald Bailey; and two sisters, 
Pearl Usea and Flossie Badeaux.

Landry's Funeral Home of Thibodaux is in charge of arrangements.
