Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2010/f1006.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Leonard Donald "Dick" Garrison Sr., born April, 7, 1925, in Whynot, Miss,. and raised in Newton, Miss., died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at his home in Napoleonville. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Napoleonville, 4616 Hwy 308 in Napoleonville. Military services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the church. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lena Christine Neal-Garrison; one son, Leonard Donald Garrison Jr. "Don"; one daughter, Wanda L. Garrison-Anselmo and husband, Bubba; two brothers, Leland Earl Garrison and Billy Milton Garrison; five grandchildren, Donnie Garrison and wife, Stacie, Jaime Garrison and wife, Sheri, Raymond Anselmo Jr., Callie Anselmo, and Christine Anselmo-Wheelock and husband, Alex; and two great-grandchildren, Amelia Frances Wheelock and Elena Marie Wheelock. He was preceded in death by one son, William Thomas Garrison; his father, William Brantley Garrison; his mother, Cora Myrtle Nichols-Garrison; two sisters: Bessie Majorie Garrison-Slaid and Jewel Juanita Garrison-Rainey; two brothers, Cleo Brantley Garrison and Walter Leon Garrison; his daughter-in-law, Martha Pope Garrison; one grandchild, Baby Anselmo; and two great-grandchildren, Lillian Brooks Wheelock and Garrison Thomas Wheelock. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Napoleonville. He was an outdoor sportsman who loved to hunt and fish and was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing golf. He was a sergeant in the 1045th Army Air Force Base Unit where he served four years, two months and six days. He received the American Defense Service Medal, The American Theater Service Medal and The Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal while in the service and was honorably discharged Oct. 7, 1945. As a World War II veteran, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also worked for a gas company in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. After working for 35 years he retired to Napoleonville. Pallbearers will be Donnie Garrison, Jaime Garrison, Raymond Anselmo, Alex Wheelock, Jerry Garrison, and Jimmy Garrison.
