Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Gregory Catholic Church. Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with interment at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rosa Belle Martin Lirette; their two children, Sandra Lirette Whitney and husband, Roland T. Whitney Sr. and Randy P. Lirette and fiance', Vickie Lindsey; five grandchildren, Antares Whitney Boudreaux and husband, Tony Boudreaux, who is currently serving our country in Afghanistan with the U.S. Army, Kristen M. Whitney, Roland T. Whitney Jr., Stephen Lirette, Cole Lirette and Aiden Lirette; two great-grandchildren, Claire Rose Boudreaux and Evan Daniel Boudreaux; and five siblings, Gertrude Lirette Hutchinson, Nolan Lirette, Audrey Lirette Kramer, Roy Lirette and Wilson "Junior" Lirette Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Anthony Lirette Sr. and Ozelia Dubois Lirette. Roland recently retired from Terrebonne Motor Company after 50 years of service where he was loved and admired by his employers as well as employees and customers. Roland's wife and family would like to thank Mr. "Dickie" Barker and all the Barker family for their many years of friendship and support, as well as their continued love and compassion during this time of bereavement. Roland's great love for family and friends, at home and work, was a trademark of this quiet, reserved and gentle man. He enjoyed fishing, cooking for family or workplace gatherings and the light-hearted revelry which encompassed those gatherings. Throughout his years of serving the public Roland learned how to competently and courteously interact with people, a skill that he shared and tried to teach many within his immediate influence. The wisdom and care he shared with those who knew him is not likely to be forgotten and the many lives he's touched with his compassion will go on long after him to touch future generations for years to come. And although Roland will be missed by us all, he will, most certainly, not be forgotten. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ===================
