Josephine Florence Smith Verdin, 74, a native of Dulac and resident of Houma, 
died at 8:40 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until service time Monday 
at Chauvin Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral 
home.

She is survived by her husband, Antoine Verdin; four sons, Joseph Verdin and 
wife, Monique, Raymond Verdin, Kenneth Verdin and Glen Verdin and companion, 
Lawanna; two daughters, Delta Verret and husband, Anthony, and Bernie Verret and 
husband, Edward; 10 grandchildren, Christi Fanguy and husband, Nuggie, Shawna 
Guidry, Jonathan Verdin, Chelsie Verdin, Brittney Verret, Tammy Adams, Timmy 
Adams, Glen Verdin Jr., Jude Verret and Joseph Verdin Jr.; six great-
grandchildren; and two sisters, Lorena William and Mary Nesmith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley Smith and Josephine Marie 
Verdin Smith; two sons, Calvin Verdin and Mark Verdin; two daughters, Mary Ann 
Verdin and Rita Ann Verdin; four sisters, Eva Verdin, Jeanette Breaux, Irene 
Verdin and Evelina "Bessie" Hood; five brothers, Paul Smith, Lawrence Smith, 
Sidney Smith, Joseph Smith and Howard Smith.

She was a homemaker and a member of Grand Caillou Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The American Diabetes 
Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Va., 22312.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
