Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial in St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Helen Robichaux Bergeron; one son, Shayne Bergeron; two daughters, Debra Sallee and husband, Walter, and Denita Abel and husband, Gene; three stepsons, Clifton Lucas and wife, Debbie, Robert Bascle, and Terry Bascle and wife, Diane; four stepdaughters, Diane Lucas, Sandra Brister and husband, David, Evelyn Angeron, and husband, Byron; seven grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Alice Bradley Bergeron; his parents, Albert Bergeron Sr. and Josie LaRose Bergeron; two brothers, Albert Bergeron Jr. and Peter Bergeron Whitton; one step-grandchild, Bobby Angeron; and one step-daughter-in-law, Barbara Bascle. He was a retired teacher for the Terrebonne Parish School Board. He entered the Navy on April 1, 1952, and was a deep sea diver for 20 years. He served during the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Navy Commendation, and the Fifth Good Conduct Award. He was honorably discharged on May 30, 1973, as Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of the Mason Lodge and American Legion. He was also a parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church.
