CHAMPAGNE, JOEL 

Joel J. Champagne, 81, a native of Raceland and a resident of Thibodaux, died at 
3 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time 
Tuesday at Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux. Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at 
St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by four children, Don Champagne of Metairie, Brian Champagne of 
Houston, Joellyn Champagne of Houston, and Brad Champagne of Bossier City; one 
brother, Alcide "A.J." Champagne Jr. of Raceland; one sister, Maude C. Matherne 
of Corpus Christi, Texas; and five grandchildren, Brooke Champagne, Marcy 
Champagne, Zachary Champagne, Jade Champagne and Christian Champagne.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Lou Cortez Champagne; his parents, 
Alcide J. Champagne Sr. and Hedwige Folse Champagne; one brother, Milton 
Champagne; and one sister, Doris Cheramie.

Landry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
