Levy "Pont" Cooks Jr., 74, a native of Napoleonville and a resident of Belle 
Rose, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. today at Williams and Southall Funeral 
Home in Napoleonville and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Bright Morning 
Star Baptist Church in Napoleonville. Religious service will be held at 11 a.m. 
Saturday at the church conducted by the Rev. Ronald Dorsey, with burial in the 
church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Cooks of Belle Rose; two daughters, Cynthia 
Cooks of Boston and Cheryl Cooks of Napoleonville; two sons, Levy III and wife, 
Elizabeth Cooks of Port Arthur, Texas, and Terrance and wife, Tamika Cooks of 
Houston; one brother, Joseph Cooks of Belle Rose; two sisters, Stella and 
husband, Junius Scott of Napoleonville, and Rosalee Carcisse of New Orleans; six 
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other 
relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harriet and Levy Cooks Sr.; two 
stepsisters; and four brothers.

He was a retired employee of Leighton Sugar Mill.

Williams and Southall Funeral Home of Napoleonville, 985-369-7231 is in charge 
of arrangements.
