Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elodie "Sissie" Potter Johnson of Houma; one son, Richard M. Johnson of Houma; one son-in-law, David Clark, of Houma; three grandsons, Aaron and Travis Clark, and Ryan Harper all of Houma; one granddaughter, Chasity Johnson of Houma; one sister, Joyce Dewitt and husband, Frank, of Washington, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Linda Johnson of Chillicothe, Ill.; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Johnson Clark; his parents, Melvin H. Johnson Sr. and Eva Marie Holmes Johnson; one brother, James Johnson; and one sister, Janet Johnson. He was an employee of Global Industries for 20 years, and most of those years were spent on the "DOB CHEROKEE". He was affectionately known as "Wiggles" by his co-workers.
