Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with burial in St. Elie Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Kelley; four sons, Rodney "R.J." Martin Jr., Ethan Kelley-Martin, Evan Martin, Eli Martin; two daughters, Tiffanie Martin and Britni Martin; one grandchild, Ysabel Billiot; his parents, Ruffin Martin and Mary Prosperie Martin; two brothers, Rudy Martin and Ruffin Martin Jr.; two sisters, Rhonda Clement and Ramona Hemphill; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis Steff Prosperie and Ida Marie Trahan, Lena Verret Martin and Thomas Joseph Martin; and one son, Gavin Paul Martin. He worked for the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office for 18 years where he was currently a sergeant. He started in corrections and transferred to the transportation division from there he handled inmate work crews. He also owned Cajun Striping and Painting, LLC and was a part time security officer for Chabert Medical Center. He was past member of the Little Caillou and Bourg Fire departments and a member of Woodmen of the World. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, father and grandfather.
