MERRITT, L.D. 

L.D. Merritt, 86, a native of Kitts, Ky. and resident of Gray, died at 11:10 
p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010.

A graveside service will be held at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton, Tenn.

He is survived by one son, Carl Edward Merritt and wife, Sarah, of Houma; his 
daughter-in-law, Kathryn M. Merritt of Metairie; six grandchildren; 12 great-
grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-
granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Martin Merritt; two sons, L.D. 
Merritt Jr. and one infant son; his father, Robert Merritt; his mother, Bertha 
May Douglas Merritt Walker; and one brother, Andrew Jackson Merritt.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and served on the U.S.S. Carlson in the 
South Pacific.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
