Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2010/f1007.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Allen George Troxclair Sr., 86, a native of Mount Airy and a resident of Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home, died at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to funeral time Monday at the chapel of the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home, 4080 W. Airline Highway in Reserve. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with burial of military honors held at 2 p.m. at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary. He is survived by three sons, Burton Troxclair of Buford, Ga., Ronald Troxclair and wife, Linda, of Taylorsville, N.C., and Allen Troxclair Jr. and wife, Suzanne, of Thibodaux; two daughters, Melinda "Prissy" Vines of Buford, Ga. and Patricia "Leah" Lindhorst and husband, Steven, of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Brad Troxclair and wife, Nikki, Rick Troxclair, Jennie Frye and husband, Daniel, Jessica Troxclair, Keith Schexnayder, Todd Schexnayder and wife, Chantelle, Christopher Ben Combetta and wife, Megan, Benton Troxclair, Courtney Troxclair, and Dexter Troxclair; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Troxclair Toups and late husband, Reed, of Texas, and Sophie Troxclair Clesi and late husband, Ralph, of Denham Springs; two sisters-in-law, Myrtle Troxclair and late husband, Glenn, of Luling, and Mary Helen Troxclair and late husband, Huey, of Lutcher; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lezaine J. Troxclair and Bertha Champagne Troxclair; two brothers, Glenn Troxclair and Huey Troxclair; and two sisters, Lillian Troxclair Petrocelli and Hazel Troxclair Schwarz. Allen was born on April 19, 1924 in Mount Airy, La. He spoke fondly of his youth spent with family and friends on Angelina Plantation, the family home. He graduated from Leon Godchaux High School and then enlisted in the Navy, serving in World War II. After completing his service in the Navy, he obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia. He eventually made his home in Houma, and worked as an engineer in the oilfield industry until his retirement. Allen enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and he was an avid LSU fan. He also treasured the friendships he made with residents and staff at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve.
