Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery No. 2. She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Chauvin and husband, Don, and Gail Walker Robichaux; two sons, Wayne Walker and Richard Walker and wife, Brenda; two sisters, Elsie Hebert and Lorraine Bunch; six grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence J. Walker; her parents, Leo Giroir and Evelia Luke Giroir; her son-in-law, Robie Robichaux; four sisters, Hazel Schlaefli, Hilda Leblanc, Ruth Hebert and Ezelle Vice; and three brothers, Xavier Giroir, Leroy Giroir and Roy Giroir. Gertie was able to bring laughter and joy to the hearts of many. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ===================
