Bertha "Bat" C. Borne, 88, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, passed away 
Aug. 19, 2010.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Cut 
Off and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor. 
Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial at St. Mary's 
Cemetery in Raceland.

She is survived by one son, Roy Borne Sr. and wife, Ethel; three brothers, D.J. 
and Carroll Collins and Johnny Vegas; four sisters, Dorita Bruce, Nola Collins, 
Anna Mae Galliano and Virgie Leonard; and numerous grandchildren, great-
grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anson "Nelson" Borne; her parents, 
Demoville and Celestine Melancon Collins; two daughters, Jane Borne Guidry 
Boudreaux and Cynthia Vegas; five brothers, Alvin, Cleveland, Joseph, E.J. and 
Adam; and six sisters, Lucy, Amanda, Alvina, Gloria, Josephine and Isabelle.

She was an avid quilter and made quilts for many babies along the bayou and 
especially for her family.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Cut Off is in charge of arrangements.
