Burdwell, 91, a native of Selma and a resident of Lockport, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Thursday followed by a military service at 10:30 a.m. at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Raceland. Religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with burial at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Mt. Hermon. He is survived by one son, Terry L. Burdwell; three daughters, Frances Ruth Burdwell Parker, Jerry Burdwell Parks and Pearl Burdwell Lovie; two sisters, Christine B. Symour and Elizabeth Burdwell; and 21 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Jessie Watson Burdwell; his second wife, Frieda Allen Burdwell; his parents, George M. Burdwell and Rosie Sissium Burdwell; and five brothers, Christian I. Burdwell, Sidney Burdwell, Clyde Burdwell, Calvin Burdwell and Curtis Burdwell. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and Korea, a 32nd degree mason and a retired master sergeant from U.S. Army. In lieu of flowers, donations to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses are preferred. Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements. ===================
