Gasery Jr., 72, a native of Houma and a long-time resident of Slidell, died at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church in Slidell. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery (Gause Blvd, La. 190W) He is survived by his wife, Kay Gasery; two daughters, Roslyn Gasery of Atlanta and Tammy Flot of Slidell; one son, Scott Laurent of Slidell; four brothers, Percy Gasery Sr. of Thibodaux, Earl T. Gassery of Biloxi, Miss., Preston Gassery of Marrero, and Lawrence Gasery of Schriever; three sisters, Annie Mae Norman of Houston, Cheryl Gasery of Harvey, and Elmira King of Thibodaux; his godmother, Aunt Mildred Brown of Houma; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. Gasery Sr. and Lillie Brown Gasery; his first wife, Gloria Lagarde Gasery; one son, John Larry Gasery III; two daughters, Melanie R. Anderson and Carla Patrice Gasery; one granddaughter, Danielle Anderson; two brothers, Lester Gasery and William Gasery; two sisters, Ella Louise Tardieff and Daisy Small; his grandparents, Eddie and Louise Brown, and Walter and Daisy Gasery. Retired U.S. Air Force Captain, Vietnam veteran, and retired Chief Operations Officer for NASA/Stennis Space Center in Biloxi, Miss.
