Gaudet Jr., 90, a native of Thibodaux and a resident of the west bank of New Orleans, joined his late wife, Mary Alice LaGraize Gaudet, on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., in Marrero and will continue from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, 721 Canal Blvd., in Thibodaux. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with interment in the church cemetery. He is survived by his children, Alfred and Kathleen Gaudet, Beryl and Wayne Toups, and Dean P. Gaudet; one grandchild, Kim M. Toups; 10 siblings, Pearl LaGraize, Esthelina Naquin, Burtis, Clay, Carroll, Lynn, Emilienne, Shirley, Hazel and Loretta Gaudet; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rosalie LaGraize Thibodaux, Sybil Gaudet, Claude Naquin, Leroy Thibodaux and Matilda Gaudet; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice LaGraize Gaudet; his parents, Alfred P. Gaudet Sr. and Emilienne LaGarde Gaudet; one sister, Wilma Henry; and brother-in-law, Percy LaGraize. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 222 in Marrero. He was also a member of Woodmen of the World No. 623 in Marrero. He was retired from the Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court's Office. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Gaudet's name to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Educational Fund, 724 Camp St., New Orleans, LA.
