Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2010/f1008.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Violet Hountha Lauga, 90, born Oct. 27, 1919 in New Orleans and spent the last 13 years of her life in Thibodaux, entered into Heaven Friday, Aug. 20, 2010. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in Metairie Cemetery. Visitation will begin from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Violet is survived by two children, Faye Lauga Kalpakis and husband, Bill, and James C. Lauga and wife, Carolynn; six loving grandchildren, Frank, Melanie, and Stephanie Kalpakis, James, Adam, and Kirin Lauga; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Nola Punzo; and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clement Alexander; her parents, Philip and Ida Hountha; and one brother, Philip Hountha. Violet was a successful business woman, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved all manners of life. She loved her garden, was a talented flower arranger, artist, and a wonderful cook. Her favorite activity was to be with family and entertain everyone. She will be missed by all. Violet and her husband, Clement Lauga founded Gay 90's Carriages, d.b.a., Royal Carriages in 1941. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Orleans Children's Hospital, New Orleans Botanical Gardens or St. Joseph Manor, 1201 Cardinal Drive, Thibodaux, LA. 70301 where she was so lovingly cared for the last decade of her life.
