Benny John "Smiley" McDaniel, 49, a resident of Lafayette, passed away at 7:07 
p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at Ochsner Medical Center.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8 a.m. to funeral time 
Friday at Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of Lafayette. Memorial services will be 
held at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel conducted by the Rev. Randy Hyde, with 
burial in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

He is survived by two sons, Cody Toups and Benjamin McDaniel; his father, Gary 
McDaniel Sr. of St. Joseph, Mo., his grandmother, Theresa Bergeron; four 
sisters, Donna Trosclair, Miko McDaniel and partner, Charlotte Dufrene, Tanya 
Clark and husband, John Stacy Clark, and Tally Bernard and husband, Joshua; and 
three brothers, Donnie McDaniel, Gary McDaniel Jr. and wife, KC, and Darryl 
McDaniel.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby McDaniel; his mother, Judy Bourg 
McDaniel of New Orleans; and his wife, Dana Toups.

Smiley was a lover of music, history and the New Orleans Saints. He was a loving 
father, brother, friend, and son.
