Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2010/f1008.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Dr. Eldridge John Turner Jr., 63, a native of Houma, passed away Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, after a lengthy illness at home in Shreveport surrounded by his family. Funeral services celebrating the life of Dr. E. John Turner Jr. will be held at 1 p.m. today at Grace Community United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Rob Weber, with interment to follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 41 years, Katherine Galloway Turner; one daughter, Margaret Turner Brasuell and husband, Kevin; three grandchildren, Clay Brasuell, Brandon Brasuell and Shelby Brasuell; and one great-grandson, Jonathan Cullen Brazzel. Preceding John in death are his parents, Eldridge John Turner Sr. and Elsie McElroy Turner. Dr. Turner was born April 27, 1947. He attended Centenary College and Northwestern State University of Louisiana where he received degrees in education. He was a teacher with the Caddo Parish School Board for 20 years and a Professor with Centenary College for 10 years. John was a member of Grace Community United Methodist Church and the Krewe of Gemini serving as Bead Man, Captain and King. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Community United Methodist Church or charity of donor's choice.
