He was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Houma. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home. Visitation will also be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with burial in Garden of memories Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Frances Louise Higginbotham Babin; sons, Irvan J. Babin Jr. and wife, Sunshine Babin, and V. Lee Babin and wife, Pamela Babin; daughter, Hope Babin Billiot and husband, Timothy Billiot; grandchildren, Heather Billiot and husband, Brent, Christopher and Austin Babin, Harley and Mason Babin; great-granddaughter, Madison Billiot; step- grandchildren, Wyatt, Abigail and Gabriel Trahan; and sister, Carolyn "Country" Babin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin Valery Babin and Lillian Boudreaux Babin Darcey; brothers, Novel J. Babin and Reynold P. Babin; sisters, Helen Folwer, Lois Breaux, Alberta Lafitte, Beulah Graly, Yvonne Guidry, Betty Jane Fontenot, Beverly Bonvillain, Florence Babin and Genevieve Babin. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Houma. He was an avid fisherman and motorcycle rider. His great-granddaughter was the apple of his eye, and he much loved all his children and grandchildren. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ======================
