Bessie A. Cortez, 75, a resident and native of Kraemer, passed away Sunday, 
Dec. 29, 2012. She was born May 11, 1937.

Visitation is from 8 a.m. until funeral time today at St. Lawrence the Martyr 
Catholic Church in Kraemer. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. today 
at the church, with 

burial in St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church cemetery in Kraemer.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Cortez; sons, Peter Cortez and wife, 
Norma, David Cortez and wife, Alice, Matthew Cortez and wife, Mitzi, Jonathan 
Cortez and wife, Carla, and Bart Cortez and wife, Adrienne; daughter, Maggie 
McCarthy and husband, Ricky; brothers, Edwin and Johnny Adams; sisters, Celina 
Cortez, Margaret Usea, Laura Adams, Sam Cortez and Theresa Hotard; 
grandchildren, Rob Hotard, Bob Hotard, Maggie Cortez, Sandi Cortez, Josh 
McCarthy, Kelli Cortez, Teddi Cortez, Kaitlyn Cortez, Lane Cortez, Madeline 
Cortez, Gabrielle Cortez, Olivier Cortez and Hunter Talbot; and great-
grandchildren, Mia Duet, Seth Cortez, Zachary Hotard and Chloe Hotard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldrige Sr. and Elmira Adams; 
brothers, Dick, Richard, William, Fred, and Aldrich Adams Jr.; and sisters, 
Elva and Maria Granier.

Thibodaux Funeral Home in Thibodaux is in charge of arrangements.
