He was a loving and compassionate young man with many talents and interests. In his time with us, Jesse impacted those around him with his quick wit and intellect. He never met a stranger and related to young and old. All who knew Jesse will have wonderful memories of his zest for life and his kind heart. He loved soccer, music, philosophy and medicine. Jesse brought great joy to his family and friends and will be missed beyond measure. A quote Jesse lived by: "If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours." - Dolly Parton. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula, Miss. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Jesse was born Nov. 28, 1990 in Thibodaux to Robert and Lisa Hughes. He was a 2009 graduate of Pascagoula High School and was scheduled to graduate May 2013 from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., with a degree in Chemistry. He was awarded the Rhodes Presidential Scholarship, the Sam Walton Community Scholarship and a scholarship from The Rotary Club of Pascagoula and was employed as a Security Escort at Rhodes College. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Birk; great-grandfather, Ira Robichaux; great-grandparents, William Taylor, Florence Sparkman, Leo V. and Bernice Gray, and Boyce and Bernice Hughes; and his uncle, Chris Hughes. He is survived by his mother, Lisa Gray Hughes of Pascagoula, Miss., and father, Robert and stepmother, Linda Hughes of Ocean Springs, Miss.; grandparents, Arlis and Elma Ruth Gray of Pascagoula, Miss., and Leonard and Judith Hughes of Houma; step-grandparents, Kathleen and Charles McCoy of San Jose, Calif., and Sandra Birk of Sunnyvale, Calif.; great-grandmother, Yvonne Robichaux of Houma; siblings, Audrey Hughes of Tallahassee, Fla., Olivia Hughes of Pascagoula, Miss., Robert Hughes of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Birkie Hughes of Ocean Springs, Miss.; and numerous other relatives and friends. O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula, Miss., is in charge of arrangements. ======================
