Georgia Ruth Craig Kanode, 92, a native of Beckville, Texas, and a resident of 
Houma, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at Christ Baptist 
Church in Houma. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, 

with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gray.

She is survived by her husband, John G. Kanode; sons, James D. Harwell and 
wife, Sandra, Charles Harwell, Sr. and wife, Gaynell; daughter, Shirley Kirkes 
and husband, Michael, Carolyn Mancuso, Betty Pearson, Donna Harwell; 
stepchildren, James R. Harwell, Jr. and wife, Jessie, Addis Harwell, Gloria 
Sizemore and husband, Jerry, Tommy Harwell and wife, Cletta, Debra Heath and 
husband, Wesley, Robert D. Kanode Sr. and wife Crystal, Denise LeCompte and 
husband, Christopher; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James R. Harwell Sr.; parents, 
William Grover and Loula Mae Blair Craig; sons-in-law, William Mancuso and 
William Pearson; three brothers; and three sisters.

Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
