Leona Toups Monnier, 88, a native and resident of Raceland, passed away 
Wednesday Jan. 2, 2013.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Monday at St. Mary's Nativity 
Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the 
church, with 

burial in St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church cemetery.

She is survived by her sons, O.E. "Butch" Monnier Jr. and wife, Sandy, Francis 
Monnier and Carl Monnier; daughters, Luella M. Owens and husband, Jack, and 
Anne Monnier; grandchildren, Monique M. Jones and husband, David, Brett Monnier 
and Thea, Darrel Owens Sr., Nick Owens and wife, Linda, Greg Owens and wife 
Wendy, Jason Owens and wife Regina, Ingram Monnier and Carla Monnier; step-
grandchild, Robbie LeBlanc; nine great-grandchildren; and two step-great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Octave Monnier Sr.; parents, Paul and 
Scholastie Martin Toups; and brothers, Paul Toups, Elton Toups and Huey Toups.

She was a member of the St. Mary's Nativity Church Choir for 51 years and the 
Ladies Alter Society.
She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, music, hunting, fishing and spending 
quality time with her family.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
