Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2013/f1301.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Mack Thomas "Tom" Nolen, 87, went happily on Jan. 10, 2013, to join his wife Jo Carol Nolen, who preceded him in death in 1988. He was a resident of Tyler, Texas, and former resident of Thibodaux. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Tyler, Texas. Dr. Nolen was born on Nov. 30, 1925, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the late Robert Edward and Madeline Thomas Nolen. He grew up in Tyler, Midland and Wichita Falls, Texas, and joined the Army in 1943. He received degrees from Texas A&M University, The University of Texas, Midwestern State University, and his doctorate in history from Louisiana State University. He taught history at Nicholls State University from 1970 until his retirement in 1990. Dr. Nolen met his wife, Dr. Jo Carol Nolen, also a Nicholls State University professor, in Thibodaux, and they married there in 1980. While living in Thibodaux, Dr. Nolen was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Survivors include his loving family: brother, Robert Nolen Jr. and wife, Glenna, of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Betsy Smith of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sons, Mack Nolen Jr. and wife, Kelsey, of San Diego, and Joel Nolen of Tyler, Texas; and granddaughter, Sofia Ann Nolen of San Diego.
