Amedee, 95, born August 17, l917, a native of Vacherie and resident of Houma for 73 years, died at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at Terrebonne General Medical Center surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Marjorie Perret Amedee; one son, Dr. Ronald G. Amedee and wife, Dr. Elisabeth Rareshide; two daughters, Daria A. Thomassie and husband, Roland, and Marjorie A. Verret and husband, Charles; four grandchildren, Monique T. Martin and husband, Stephen Sr., David C. Verret and wife, Sondra D., Garret P. Thomassie and wife, Michelle G., and Ryan G. Thomassie and wife, Tippy O.; six great-grandchildren, Kristen Martin, Ashley Martin, Stephen Martin Jr., Dylan Verret, Blaise Thomassie, and Bailey Thomassie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph B. and Marie Marse Amedee; grandson, Scott G. Verret; brother Bert Amedee and wife, Stella; and sisters, Beulah A. Perret and husband, William, Winnie A. Zeringue and husband, Pete, and Marie A. Barrios and husband, Emmett. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1317 for 75 years, a member of Judge A. J. Caillouet Assembly No. 336, Alahambra, Sierra Club, St. Francis de Sales Cathedral Choir, Les Amis Choir, and an usher at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. The family wishes to thank the caring nurses and staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center of Houma and Terrebonne General Medical Center, Drs. Russell Henry, Raul Doria, and Haden LaFaye. Also very special thanks to caregivers Beverly Boudreaux, Shana Neal, Susie Neal, Lucille Parfait and Bayou Home Care of Houma. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the St. Francis de Sales Les Amis Choir or the Terrebonne Council on Aging.
