Lou Jackson Estay, 60, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Dulac, was 
granted her angel wings on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis De Sales Cathedral 
in Houma.

She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Allen J. Estay; daughters, 
Shanna M. Estay and Dawn Estay Voisin and husband, Barry; four granddaughters, 
Kiarra and Rhianna Little and Jillian and Izabella Voisin; mother, Louverda T. 
Jackson Ledet; brothers, Norvel (Cissy) Jackson Jr., Lorris (Patsy) Jackson, 
and Harold (Terri) Jackson; sisters, Cheryl J. Simms, Linda Jackson-Savoie, and 
Stella J. (John) Mobley; brother-in-law, Wayne (Donna) Estay; sisters-in-law; 
Toni E. (Duard "Butch") Cheramie, Terri Estay and Tammy Estay; and numerous 
nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Norvel P. Jackson Sr.; paternal 
grandparents, Norvel A. and Madeline C. Jackson; stepfather, Leroy "Bad Grass" 
Ledet; maternal grandparents, Dolton Sr. and Enessia L. Terrebonne; father-in-
law, Antoine "Tan" J. Estay; mother-in-law, Patsy O. Estay; brother, Allen F. 
Jackson; sister-in-law, Janice Estay Steele; and nephews, John Michael Estay 
and Michael John Mobley.

Lou worked for many years as the nursing director of surgery at Terrebonne 
General Medical Center (TGMC). She was a member of Ladies Night Out Committee, 
Woman's Business Alliance (WBA), Louisiana Organization of Nurse Executives, 
Organ Donation Champion Committee, American Nurses Association, American 
Organization of OR Nurses, Krewe of Aphrodite and a Leadership Terrebonne 
alumna. 
She will be sorely missed by her family and the community and will be 
remembered by all for her generous heart, sharp wit, caring nature and 
beautiful smile.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Mary Bird 
Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC.
"At first, the angels stood behind her bed guarding her every breath. Later, 
when her breath began to fade, the angels hovered above her, gently lifting her 
spirit into the heavenly hands of God."
