Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Thibodaux. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in Old Fountain Baptist Church Cemetery in Thibodaux. He is survived by his mother, Lillian VanBuren; his companion, Genny Dunaway; daughter, Amanda (James Jr.) Miles; eight stepchildren, Earl (Paulette) Martin Jr., Perry Martin, Kerry Dunaway, Melvin (Sonje) Martin, Terry (Dubai) Martin, Juanita Martin, Melanie Martin and Vera Martin; three brothers, Charles, Robert and Earl VanBuren; four sisters Verna VanBuren, Cynthia (Alvin) Sewire, Linda (Michael) Lovely, and Sara (Marlon) Moses; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter VanBuren Sr.; daughter, Anna Brown; brother, Walter VanBuren Jr.; sister, Dorothy Wiliams; and grandson, Jamonta Miles. He was a member of Old Fountain Baptist Church. Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements. ======================
