Norwood Batiste, 81, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Monday, March 4, 
2013.

Visitation will be from noon until funeral time Saturday at Highway Baptist 
Church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, 

with burial in Highway Baptist Church cemetery.

He is survived by his sons, Brian, Mark and Barry Batiste; daughters, Rosalyn 
Batiste and Sandra Batiste Singleton; sisters, Mary Lee Johnson and Cheryl 
Bartholomew; 29 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Batiste; parents, Albert Batiste 
Sr. and Equator Williams Batiste; son, Michael Batiste; daughter, Adrian 
Jenkins; brothers, Robert, Charles, Hayward, Albert Jr. and Earl Batiste; 
sisters, Iris Batiste and Norma Coco; and grandparents, Robert and Adeline 
Williams, Mary Nelson Batiste and Ferman Batiste.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Kennedy Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
