Daniel L. Bennett, 71, a native and resident of Houma, died Saturday, March 2, 
2013.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Chauvin Funeral 
Home. A Liturgy of the Word will be at noon Friday at the funeral home, with 

burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1. 

There will be a military honor service at the funeral home Friday before the 
Liturgy of the Word by the United Veterans League.

He is survived by his daughter, June Bennett Price and husband, Dicky, of 
Houma; sister, Joyce Blackman and husband, Charles Hiltz, of Denver, Colo.; 
grandchildren, Laney Allen, Bennett Price, and Kayla Price; brothers-in-law, 
Norman Authement and wife, Marlene, Deacon Douglas J. Authement and wife, Una, 
and John Authement and wife, Michelle; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Authement Bennett; and parents, 
Isham Daniel Bennett and Eva Leonard Bennett.

Daniel was an LSU graduate and alumnus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He served in Eastern Airlines from 1968 to their close. He was also a certified 
pilot for Miami Air.

Daniel loved his family and most especially his daughter and grandchildren. He 
had a special place in his heart for animals, especially dogs.
He will be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Hope for 
Animals, P.O. Box 1341, Thibodaux, La. 70302.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
