Kermit Joseph Coulon, 84, a native of Avoyelles Parish and resident of 
Gramercy, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at RoseLynn Funeral Home in Lutcher 
and from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 
in Gramercy. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the 
church, 

with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Paulina.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Neva Cecile Ducote Coulon; 
children, Kermit J. Coulon Jr. and wife, Pamela, Dwayne Paul Coulon and wife, 
Ann, Karen Ann Kitterman and husband, Jeff, Kerry J. Coulon and Eric G. Coulon; 
and grandchildren, Dewey Coulon, Christian Coulon, Cody Coulon, Sandra Coulon, 
Dusty Coulon, Sammie Kitterman, Abbey Coulon, and Michael Coulon; five great-
grandchildren; and sisters, Laura Coulon Bordelon and Patricia "Pat" Coulon 
Lachney, and husband, Harold.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Irene Coulon; in-laws, 
Maurice and Agnes Ducote; brother, Landry Coulon; sister-in-law, Mary Lee 
Coulon; brothers-in-law, E. L. Bordelon and Alvin Ducote; and nephew, Timothy 
Coulon.

Kermit graduated from Louisiana State University with B.S. and M.S. degrees in 
animal science. He began his 40 year career with the LSU Cooperative Extension 
Service as an assistant county agent, and was promoted to county agent and 
later district agent for the cane belt region. 
He was a proud LSU Tiger fan, having previously been a member of the LSU Band. 
He held leadership positions in many organizations including the American 
Society of Sugarcane Technologists, Lions Club, County Agents Association, Farm 
Bureau, and Block and Bridle Club. He was a member of the Louisiana 4-H Hall of 
Fame and recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow of the Lions. 
Kermit loved his family, friends, community and everything LSU. He was widely 
loved and will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Louisiana 
4-H Foundation, LSU AgCenter, 102 Efferson Hall, 110 LSU Union Square, Baton 
Rouge, La., 70803.
