He was born in Ft. Knox, Ky., and was a native of Georgia and resident of Schriever. There will be a celebration of his life from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at 109 Isle of Cuba Road in Schriever. A private burial will be held by the family at a later date. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Steck Gustafson; daughters, Karrie Gustafson McCoy and husband, Todd, of Baton Rouge, and Heather Boudreaux Deroche and husband, Rodney, of Houma; son, Joey Gustafson and wife, Kelly of Thibodaux; brother, Tim Glover and companion, Connie, of Houma; and grandchildren, Lily, Kimi, Samie and Madee Deroche, Madeline McCoy, and Ethan and Liam Gustafson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Joseph Gustafson and Martha McChargue Gustafson; and uncle, Emery "Red" McChargue. He was proud to serve his country while in the U.S. Coast Guard, Airforce and Army. He was a Vietnam War veteran. He had a love of computers, photography and was the owner of Alien Micro Computers in Houma. He served his community as a firefighter for Bayou Cane Volunteer Fire Dept. and also served as a deputy sheriff for Terrebonne Parish. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
